Air filter holder (clips) / dipstick tube
Air filter holder (clips) / dipstick tube
I'm trying to clean up the engine compartment on the 2008 coupe I just purchasaed. I changed the air filters and the metal clips are rusty. Can you purchase new clips or just sand/spray paint the old ones? Also, the dipstick tube is corroded. How difficut is it to remove/replace it?
The air filter metal clips should be able to be replaced, but the dipstick goes into the oil pan, so check with the dealer. Why would a dipstick get corroded? Any signs of moisture in the engine compartment? Did you notice this prior to purchase? I'd take the car to the dealer.
The dipstick isn't corroded, I'm talking about the tube that the dipstick goes into. It's not that bad, I'm just trying to clean up the compartment. I'll check with Infiniti about the clips.
The wont sell just the clips by themselves. Junkyard is your friend. Either that or clean them up and spray paint them. As far as the dipstick, I don't have my car here to look at but most of the time they are just bolted to the front of the engine with one or 2 bolts and go right into the pan with a rubber grommet to keep it from leaking. Generally they should be easy to remove.
