K&N decals on my new-used G37...(w/pics)

I very recently purchased my 2011 G37S 6MT coupe and realized the air intake system looks perfectly stock except for a couple of K&N decal stickers on it.

Question for you moders out there: Based on the pic do you think it was only the filter that was changed? How can I tell if any mods have been done?

Also, is this an upgrade? What does it change?

It would appear the previous owner added some K&N drop-in filters to the factory air boxes. The stickers are notifications/reminders so whoever works on the car doesn't toss them in the garbage since they are reusable.

Open up the boxes and look to see if you have a purplish looking filter. If you do, chances are they're K&N....and that's a bonus!

Most likely K&N filters. Take them out and see if they are.

Pop those clips on the top, filter will slide up, if its a cotton gauze filter soaked in red oil, its a K&N.

If they are installed, you're good for 50K miles before cleaning!!

Idk if I'd go that long. I cleaned my typhoon filters at around 13-15k. 50k is a lot of driving on one filter clean.

Nice! Thanks for the replies.

Soooo, are they better than OEM on performance in any way? (besides reusability/longevity)

You might get an additional 10-20 Horsepower for having better breathing filters, that would but you roughly at 350 HP

But have you verified if there are K&N filters there?

Yeah, I pulled it out and it was red, so figure that's it. Didn't see any decals on the filter fixture itself...but didn't really look either
