Installation of Test pipes advice

I'm thinking to go to the track this weekend, and I want to install my resonated mxp test pipes to the mxp exhaust that I already have. I did install exhaust by myself. How ever taking cats off is much bigger problem. I did tried to take them off... ended up with 1 broken bolt and 3 broken ratchets.

Now I have this shop that I been once to replace my tires at and guy seem very experienced in what hes doing, more then 20 years experience... He always ask me how much I wona pay lol and I dont wona be rude by giving too low price..
My question is what is reasonable price for replacing both stock cats with test pipes??

I will be very thankful for your help!

Just call few other places around..... get the prices out the door, and offer your guy something little less. He could only say no or yes. Good luck with the install. But if you dont like the gas smell.....don't install the TP.... get a HFC or RHFC.

cat removal

i've done mine couple of times.
first time i strip a bolt so i had to grind it out with a dremil.
here's some tips that you may or may not have tried/know already.
- heat the nuts and bolts if you can
- you'll need about 3ft of socket extention & swivel
- remove intake tubes to get socket extention down from the top straight
- its a pia cuz some nuts comes out from top and some from below
- put 3 bolt gasket to be safe from leaking. i have fastintention, it didn't come with or recommend it (only high temp silicone gasket) and guess what it leaked after tracking.
hope this help

I've tried most of the things you listed here ) did remove the intakes so I can get down below the manifold with my 3 ft extension bars... It was so tight that I broke one of the bars.... I even use pb blaster on all of the bolts. So I tried other side and completely ripped off the bolt head from the top when I used the breaker bar lol. So I said to myself If I keep doing this then I wont be able to drive it and will have to use a towing machine...Put everything back and just installed the cat-back myself that's about it.

So I went to 2 shops, One said $120.00 and another one said he don't wona do it cos my bolts are rusted and he doesn't have anything to heat it with... and he said 120 for this job is good price...So I went back to first guy lol.

Pb blaster on the deamon bolts. Soak them in it every 8hrs 1-2 days before you attempt removal.

rusted bolts in tight area are PIA

the worst part is how our stock cat are design, at atleast 1 of the 3 bolts actually threads into the flange of the cat. so depending on switch one you strip its still may not come out after you grind it off. $120 may be a good price now if you want that done by track. good luck.

sometimes for us GIY guys thing goes easy but most of the time its pretty bad espicially for me with my g37.
