Wow.. Didn't know this was a common issue with the Gen 3. Did you install the stillen kit yourself?

I did, and I put a rubber sleeve over the AC line, but over time it deteriorated. Installing it your self is easy, just make sure you guard the AC lines well.
As for updates, I never changed the line since it was getting to be fall and now winter, and I'll be deploying in a short while, I can put this job of until the spring of 2014.

Does anyone know what the infiniti dealership would do to prevent this if they installed the intake?

Im going to check mine. I realized guy that install my Gen 3's did not secure 2 of the attachments by the throttle body. The PE shields are right in front of the filters but in the picture in install guide they are slanted downwards. Makes me wonder if he listed to me when I told him to protect AC lines. Bugger

I just ran into the same exact problem and Infiniti quoted me $850 to replace this!

So what I did was took out my Gen 3 intake, took out the line (super easy), and replaced it. I bought the replacement part for 60 bucks on ebay. The part number for this specific pipe is 924403WK0A.

924403WK0A | eBay

Let me know if you have any questions, this is a super easy DIY fix!

I just had my dealer try to install the gen 3. They didnt like the fit of stillen for this reason and wasnt supported good in midpipes so they said cant guarantee it to not rattle. We decided to take off and maybe swap for gen 2 or something else. Guys were really good abt trying to do it but when they saw the issues inform me and then make the decision. Was trying to do on new 2013 ipl convertible. Had a 2007 coupe that had single and cat back from stillen. Was great and sounded great. Got to regroup now. Have cat back on but doesnt soun like my old one.

There is a hose included with the Gen 3 Intake Kit. It says in the Instructions to wrap the A/C Line with it. We haven't heard of any issues with the Gen 3's rattling but not everyone reports small problems like that.

Which Cat-Back do you have?

Stillen. I had he same thing on my 2007 coupe sounded great. My ipl is not nearly as throaty. I got the 2007 new from infinity dealer and they had installed all the parts so wonder if they did more than just a cat back.

Quite possibly

I sold a lot of intake and exhausts that week. Couple were for IPL's. So was it just the STILLEN Cat-Back on your 2007 (G35 correct)? The G35 and G37's sound a little different so that might be part of it.

@mpegripper The Intake kit comes with directions on how to install the Gen 3 intakes so this doesn't happen. People just don't read them and use all the parts in the kit. None of the kits that have been installed correctly have had this problem.

I've had Stillen 3s installed over a year with no issues. If you install yourself pay attention to detail. If you let someone else install check behind them. Simple stuff. The mod is worth it IMO.

i'm a very experienced wrencher, but i really am debating against anything that requires permanent modifications such as cutting out the larger holes. i also don't like the idea of blocking a good portion of the radiator

i think for me, short tubes or just staying stock is better. after all this is my daily driver, the beastly car is the ones that would get power mods instead
