2008 G37S coupe vs. Sedan exhaust

Hi everyone! This is my first post. I have been lurking for a while...figured it's time I sign up and join in on the fun.

I have a 2008 G37S coupe (red). It's my baby .

Unfortunately...on May 14 I was rearended. I was at a dead stop and somebody plowed into me. Over 5 weeks later and almost $10k in damage...I still don't have my car back. Hopefully tomorrow! uggggh

My question is this...
I've been reading here that people say the sedan exhaust is much quieter than the coupe exhaust. How can I be sure this repair shop gave me a new coupe exhaust and not the sedan? Is the audible difference really noticable when you start the car? Should I ask to see a parts order? I just want to be sure this shop isn't screwing me. I already went to see the car once and they did a pretty shoddy job...paint didnt match, the trunk didnt sit level...a few other minor issues.

i just want my car back!!!

Coupe and sedan exhausts are different. There are lot of experts here who can give you more details on it.

Ok thanks. That's good to know. I guess the mechanic I spoke to had no idea what he was talking about.

I need to find a good bodyshop/mechanic in the Baltimore/Baltimore County area. badly!!!

Right now my car is at JBA Collision Center in Glen Burnie, MD because that is where Infiniti recommended I take it. What a mistake! It's been almost 6 weeks and I still don't have my car back. They are crawling.

I went to pick it up last Friday and they did a pretty shoddy job. The trunk lid wasn't sitting level and some of the black inserts in the trunk were loose and not tucked in properly. The left exhaust pipe was about an inch lower than the right exhaust, the chipped paint in a few places, aaaaaaaaaand they didn't color match my new bumper anywhere close to the red of the actual car. It was way off.

They admitted the mistakes are fixing it now. I was supposed to be able to get it today but I jut spoke to the manager and it sounds like they haven't even done anything since last week. Now supposedly I get it on Friday. You would think these guys want to get paid!?!?! I have the checks from the insurance company....

NEVER EVER take your car to JBA Collision in Glen Burnie.

thank god I didnt take my car there. I got hit in the front by a friend who started his truck in gear a while ago. I havent gotten it fixed yet because its not that bad, but I got a quote from JBA's collision center. Glad I decided not to go there.

Check out Elite Autohaus. Its in Jessup but I have heard nothing but good things. I got a quote from there and it was a little more expensive than JBA's quote (Like $75) but they are prooven. My dad took his Corvette there a few years ago to get the hood fixed, and they did a perfect job matching the midnight blue paint.

Yes, we can all tell you 110% that a sedan exhaust will never fit the coupe. Even aftermarket exhaust systems for coupe and sedan are different. It's also much quieter, yes. And sorry about your loss, man. Getting rear-ended sucks.

Coupe has a single huge muffler while the sedan has a dual setup.

The major differences between the two is the Y pipe area, The overall length of the exhaust and muffler exit length. If it was interchangeable, Sedan's would have a lot more option in choosing an exhaust system

The Sedan is also longer by 5 to 6" so you would easily notice the fitment issues lol

If it makes you feel any better, I was rear ended while at a dead stop on I270. The total repair bill was more than $12k. The kicker was having a rental car for 5 months...yes, 5 months! The other party's insurance wouldn't pay to ship parts via air from Japan. Everything came by boat. Anyway, glad you got your G back!

it would be cheaper for them t just get a coupe exhaust, rather then modify a sedan exhaust! dont worry man. I hope it all works out.
