changing out the whole pipes under car?

That's a first, most everyone want's to get rid of the boat anchor and either shoot for gains, and/or volume, looks and deepen the sound. What you're suggesting would be a kin to changing the lemond cake to chocolate and leave the lemond icing. It would taste much better if you do the whole cake to chocolate with one that was taste tested and had less calories too.
Lemond and chocolate may go good together, may also taste like A$$ too. You'll have to do it, test it and let us know if it works.

I'd like to hear the answer, I'm subscribed.
Also, same question but with an axleback exhaust already installed.
...............and please no more stories about lemon and chocolate, you're making me hungry.

Tanabe's were too quiet for me after break in, I tried a Y-Pipe and that did server to increase volume, expecially when stepping on it. HFC's with this config were reported to drone and if I remember right cause rasp as well so I never went that route and staying legal was goal anyway.
I think the OP was asking about changing the exhaust pipes between the cat and the muffler, and wasn't thinking about HFCs or test pipes at all. At least that was my read. Anyway, by stepping up to a larger diameter Y-Pipe with increased volume, did you hear a change in sound? Or get a perception of performance? (butt dyno)

Just do HFC and Tanabe Y Pipe and leave mid pipe and muffler stock , then once tanabe released there mid pipe wich should be soon , add that and leave muffler stock . Then just decide if you want to keep stock muffler or switch to tanabe mufflers .
