Help how to create a free flowing exhaust system?
I just got a axleback exhaust. My exhaust guy is going to redo all the piping back to the cat for $300, including an x-pipe. Probably not as good performance wise as a catback, but definately cheaper.
$300 doesn't sound that expensive at all and that actually sounds like a really good idea...I think I'll try that as well! what width are you going for with your tubing?
I heard my name here while in Europe. Congrats guys, this means I managed to plant the seed of adventure in some of you. If you are considering the exhaust mods try this: zero dollars- drill 2 not larger than 3/4 inch holes in the muffler pipes. This will give you a very mild increase in the growl, no significant increase in HP but your girlfriend will like you more. After this try my bypass pipes- 80 dollars for the best sound and best performance without any cabin noise increase. With this my car went from stock 256hp to 275.5 at the wheels. You can't squeeze any more out of the car no matter what you do to stay under the warranty. Next you can do are some sound modifications but you have to remember not to increase the size of your exhaust without increasing the velocity of the gas otherwise you will lose the pickup or the low end which is disappointing. I went thru many stages of experiments by now to develop my point of view on the subject AND I came up with the sound I like without driving myself crazy with the decibel level and without any loss of power at the wide spectrum of rpm. I'm still no expert but I know so much more and I know what to do to remedy some of the popular problems associated with changing the exhaust. For example if you had installed the exhaust system you've dreamed about and you like the sound but your *** tells you you've lost some power at the pickup, would you know what to do to regain the power and keep almost the same sound of your exhaust? Greetings from Warsaw, Poland.
How's Poland Greg? And where is the before after dyno on your 20 HP gain from your bypass pipes? Did you post it already and I just missed it?
Have fun in Poland and have a safe trip home.
