Stillen Gen. 3 intake install pics and video
I'm baffled by all the concerns about hydrolock. Everyone seems concerned about splashes or car washing etc. Has anyone ever experienced engine damage or hydrolock from an open element type filter or have first hand personal knowledge of anyone who does? I'm not talking about something you heard 4th hand, I mean something that you can verify that you personally know has happened? I'm really curious because I've been modding and working on cars longer than many here have been alive and I haven't. I know it has happened to some guy somewhere, but not to me or anyone I know or have heard of. Share you stories.
What about overheating issues from a non FI car because of a radiator obstruction? I've never heard of that either unless there was actually something wrong with the cooling sustem. I drove almost 400 miles with a platic shopping bag stuck to the front of my radiator. Know why? Because I didn't want to stop and get it off. I watched the temperature gauge and it didn't raise not one little bit so I didn't stop.
If some have had different experience, please share them. I'm curious to know what everyone else has actually experienced, and not just heard apocryphal stories of.

)... there was a bunch of white smoke coming off from my exhaust for a good 5 minutes after that though... owned the car for another 50k miles and it was still running strong by the time I sold it... I think I just got lucky. Don't mess with WATER!
The intake is sick, sick soundy, and sick performing. It was pretty straight forward install, about 3 1/2 hours for me, and I don't even have a complete tool set to work with. I didn't remove the front bumper, and used a simple dremel to cut bigger holes for the pipes. The sound is INTENSE! The HP gains are felt immediately after install. I'm a little concerned with the blockage of incoming air to the radiator, but can deal with it for now cause the gains are there!! I recommend this set up to anyone. It sounds better then the Fujitas and JWT, I've owned both. The power gains feel way bigger then the previous 2, but will be dynoed tomorrow. Here's the videos and pics, The pics are of the cuts I made, and how the intakes look installed, and the videos are A: revving in a garage, with bad sound quality, and B: 2 drive bys. Enjoy!!!

The car was fine while being driven around in the heat today, the temp never passed 4 notches above the bottom on the gauge. I'm not worried at all about cooling.

I experienced hydrolock with an AEM cold air intake on my previous car by driving over a relatively big puddle of water. I believe my filter was barely touching the surface of the puddle but as soon as it got there, my car stalled and died. I had to get a tow truck while it was raining like crazy. I removed all the spark plugs, and cranked the car, got some water shooting out (but not much)...after that I drained my coolant and engine oil, let the car sit in the sun for about 2 days with the hood wide open...flushed and refilled coolant and engine oil, installed new spark plugs...and cranked it again..it didn't fire up... I was like omg I might have bent a rod or something...but my friend told me to use this flammable vapor thing (starter fluid spray?) and sprayed it a little bit into each of the chamber...crank it again and boom my car fired up (
