In the red corner, we have NBS still standing his ground!!!

In the blue corner, dripping wet after a visit by the Tide, but still holding his own, MTTG37!!!

My gen 3 arrived Friday. I'm going to have the shop install it while they're doing the Eibach Pro Kit and Stillen sway/toe/camber stuff.

Butt dyno ready, Preparation H on standby.

Oops. I meant the orange corner!

Maybe Fulmer needs a gen 3 intake as a going away present.

Looking at this week for the install.

NeverBoneStock, I said that I don't think you had anything to do with it because you posted the numbers and spread that these numbers were accurate. Others might think that you had something to do with it so that is why it was stated like that.

Now for everyone else, NeverBoneStock, has been very helpful in this. There was a time I thought he might have something to do with this but he gave me his personal phone number and name plus the name of the dyno tuner and their number to get in touch with the shop.

NeverBoneStock, please do not take this as an attack on you because it was not meant that way so please don't take it that way. I just wanted some answers simple answers from that shop which I never got. That enough was to irritate me but then having people talk **** about me on this site because of this Stillen test pissed me off anymore. I don't know if you guys realize how much of my money I spend on these tests to help us all out. Well when I do the thread on the testing between the JWT and Stock, I will go into this plus some other stuff.

Again NeverBoneStock, you are not at fault here and I thank you for the help you have provided.

Sorry for the reaction !!! I really appreciate the time you take to find out the truth behind these products .. I understand your pain when it comes to testing .. time , energy and money . Once again bboysteele I am Sorry ...

What does your tuner think he can hit with a tune and about time we get a intake that really works .. Congrats !!!!!

Okay, so what the verdict guys, are the Stillen 3rd Gen worth it ? I'm new here and really gonna consider your advise here if the product is really good. So to start off, I'm from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico where the weather conditions are pretty warm to hot all year long. So I just traded my Lexus ES350, 07 for a G37S/08, which I really like and enjoy thought I truly believe the G need's a bit more torque and HP that why I need to buy the right stuff. Any ideas on small upgrade are welcome. I also own a 2006 Subaru Sti with 480Whp & 463Wtq on pump gas "93" with methanol . This is my baby MONSTER, just to show I love SPEED...

Im with you on this...except i wish i still had my high HP car.
I totaled my 400awhp 450wtq evo (also 93 pump with meth ) and i moved on to this...which i just got the car today after waiting for a week and a half and i love it.
Very different from an evo but better in its own ways. I want to get parts that will put the most performance out.

Damn Guy I can't tell you how that feels to lose a great car like the EVO but we're moving on to better things , only bad part its going to cost alot more to upgrade these babies. . Hopefully our new G-family will help us get there.

Lets just say I am more than pissed off about the bogus dyno numbers they posted and I will have a thread on the whole JWT vs stock with HFC and FI exhaust. I hope you didn't have anything to do with those numbers and to be honest I don't believe you did but I would suggest you take your car to another shop. I understand you had to go there to do the Cobb tune but for other things go someplace else if you can. I wouldn't be that pissed except I never got a response on they dyno process they used to get those numbers in your Cobb thread or in the multiple PMs I sent them. I didn't even get a response from them in a PM although I know they were on after I sent it. Not responding just points out something shaddy was going on.fficeffice" /><O></O>

The Magden system allowed us to discover why this system is so much better than the stock or JWT intakes and it was great to see. I was skeptical at first but I saw the light. And for you cry babies that cannot wait a day or two for numbers, the Stillen intake did 11HP and 4TQ over the stock intake with me having Berk HFCs and FI Carbon exhaust. I will be posting the dyno up for this when I do the review. Well I am off to bed and I might not have the review up tomorrow due to having school work to do which is much more important.

In regards to your specific comments about SurgeLine Tuning and COBB Tuning:

I am not contributing to this forum to upset you. Our dyno results are not meant to discredit your hard work on intake testing. There is a reason why our results are different and highlighting these differences may contribute to our understanding of this motor and ECU

I am sorry i did not answer your PMs. I manage a VERY busy performance shop and R&D center so I cannot frequently attend to every forum where i could contribute. I'll turn PMs OFF in my profile. IN the future please email me directly at
sales@surgelinetuning.com

Or call the shop during business hours: 503-670-9500

SurgeLine Tuning is a subsidiary of COBB Tuning and we do highly proprietary development work for COBB Tuning. In fact, i am one of three calibrators to be on Cobb's payroll. I can assure you i have the ear of every engineer who has spent countless hours to deconvolve this ECU.

Back to the G3
Can you share the timing, airflow, and other logged information from these tests? Also, what were the short and long term fuel trims?
The one thing to consider regarding your intake testing results is the lack of time for the ECU to "learn" fuel trims. I predict these intakes made power by under-reporting the quantity of air passing into the motor. If this is true, the extra power you observed was a result of leaner AF mixture and, importantly, more ignition timing. However, in a real world circumstance, the intake is on the car for a long period of time and the ECU has an opportunity to "correct" for the new intake by adjusting the fuel trims. The ECU can also lean to adjust ignition timing by pulling back to more conservative high detonation tables.
So, while these intakes made more power in your hands, on a dyno, after an ECU reset... I must ask the question do these intakes really perform as you report after being on the car for more than a few minutes.
Intakes can make sustainable increases in power IF they actually increase the pumping efficiency of the motor. I would love to produce calibrations that work in harmony with all the popular intakes for this platform. However, i started the calibration process using the stock intakes to reduce unknown variables in the tune. Because Nissan engineers spent a huge amount of time to properly calibrate and balance the two factory intakes, i know i can depend upon the accuracy of this part of the stock calibration to produce minimal long term fuel trims and enhanced calibration stability.

The next steps in calibration process are to develop a calibrations that support aftermarket intakes. The data from your logger (mass air flow, engine speed, AF ratio, fuel trims, ignition timing, etc) may be enough to promote more rapid development of these maps.

I’ll post up the results of our initial testing when we’re ready to release the first accessports to the public in the VERY near future.

Best Regards
Tim Bailey - SurgeLine Tuning Manager and Cobb Tuning calibrator

Well, now.

Can we expect to see a fully programmable system like the Hondata S200 I had on my V8 killing GSR?

I REALLY miss the ability to plug my car into a laptop and dial it in.
