Stillen Gen. 3 intake install pics and video
Congrats!!! I personally don't think that the radiator is much of an issue. The air will still flow to the radiator and keep motor cool. and from the sound of the few who have this it might just be our 1st intake mod that produces power.
3rd times a charm and kuddos to Stillen for getting it right!

I'm still worried about water getting in there...how about car washes and the potential of water going onto the filter and maybe causing havoc? If they only had some sort of gutter system for this sexy beast of an exhaust...*dreams*
Don't spray water directly into the grille?? Maybe??
I'm baffled by all the concerns about hydrolock. Everyone seems concerned about splashes or car washing etc. Has anyone ever experienced engine damage or hydrolock from an open element type filter or have first hand personal knowledge of anyone who does? I'm not talking about something you heard 4th hand, I mean something that you can verify that you personally know has happened? I'm really curious because I've been modding and working on cars longer than many here have been alive and I haven't. I know it has happened to some guy somewhere, but not to me or anyone I know or have heard of. Share you stories.
What about overheating issues from a non FI car because of a radiator obstruction? I've never heard of that either unless there was actually something wrong with the cooling sustem. I drove almost 400 miles with a platic shopping bag stuck to the front of my radiator. Know why? Because I didn't want to stop and get it off. I watched the temperature gauge and it didn't raise not one little bit so I didn't stop.
If some have had different experience, please share them. I'm curious to know what everyone else has actually experienced, and not just heard apocryphal stories of.

^^
shopping bag is nothing, a few years ago i had to change a radiator. There were so much garbage stuck in the front on it..... bags, cartons,McDonald's cups..LOL...I had to change it because it was 16 years old the radiator.
all that garbage did not affect my engine temp.

What about when that Arizona summer comes back around. Your radiator is going to be pleading for more air. Hopefully is doesn't block the flow too much. Does look purrty though!
As for hydrolock, I don't know how he did it, but during some rain a few years back my G'pa hydrolocked his 01 MB E-class. Bone stock closed paper element or whatever MB puts on factory. With about 20k on the clock it got hydrolocked, insurance paid for a brand new motor to be put in so now his 01 MB has only about 10k on the new motor. Trust me my G'pa drive like a G'pa, he'd be avoiding any questionable situation, and even just stay in if it was raining too bad, but again we are in cali, bad rain is not what bad rain is in other parts of the country.
