Sorry .. I'm still on the wall about this. I'd still like to see what another stock car will do with JUST the intakes to validate their claims. Realistically though, the results probably don't mean much to most of us who are planning additional mods anyway.

In the mean time, I wouldn't declare failure yet and take it to the next level (if $$ permits). Take the car with all the mods you have on there and get the ECU reflashed and tuned ... you're almost certainly running lean if the ECU can't deal with the added air flow.

But everybody was just so god damn anxious to take out front bumpers change bull**** resovoirs, window washer bottles, and rip horns from the engine bay. Comon Injen, grow some ***** and don't make what seems to be a good guy look like a cheat(gamedog). Rigging gamedogs dyno is a definate, and even more of a definate is that these sound good but produce less HP than one of my burps.

Edit: Also the ultimate fail goes to all the hypebeasts on the forum. This injen intake is officially dubbed the Kywame Brown of mods on the G37. Brown was drafted out of highschool to be the best center in the NBA. supposed to be great, then finally made it to the show. And failed.

Great mine is still in production via AMT...I actually do plan on staying stock guys. I planned on doing intake only. Given thatn do you guys think the hassle of Injen is worth it or should I just do JWT Pop Chargers? I got a pretty good deal on my Injen so I can probably flip it for same price.
relocating my horn and having a tiny windshield washer reserve does not sound appealing. Neither do filters near the ground that are hard to clean...It would be worth it for 10 peak whp..I wonder if us stockers will get 10....

Im kinda pissed...

EDIT: I'll keep the intake if stock G37's dyno it at 10whp minimum. I actually plan on stopping with intake only.
If it makes less than 10whp on stock I will sell it so fast and possibly get the JWT PC.

When my husband was installing the CAI's him and his friend were kind of confused, wondering where the filters were going to get the air from. Because they are just going into the bottom fender well that is basically just closed off. So the only way to increase HP is making sure the air is being pushed into the engine. My husband is consdering taking off the the front baffles so the air can be brought in. Then put the shield around them to protect against the water. That would be the only way to increase the hp. The stock air system has built in baffles that help bring the air in. So when your on the highway air is being forced into the engine. which in turn will produce more power.

Are you 100% absolutely sure about staying stock after the intake? Because I'm sure a lot of stuff will come out. You don't want the intake to prohibit any possible future plans.

Well in honesty I want a nice exhaust and an ECU tune perhaps...That's about it. But I would imagine the Injen would still run well with just those mods. I think an HFC is probably what killed most of the Injen gain for PMS. Do you have an HFC PMS?

Man talk about Deja Vu. Its 2003 all over again when I fell for the exact same gimmick with my Injen CAI for G35. At least this time you did not loose power like last time.

So if I were to dyno with only the Injen CAI and got decent gains then turned around later and got HFC and not so good of gains the HFC would = FAIL. I want to see what would happen with a good tune and these mods.

In all honesty, this doesn't surprise me. PMS has other mods plus a stock ECU (which is the most restricting element on our cars from making more gains).

Lets put this way...

Say Injen came out first...everyone did independents and got 10rwhp. Then someone added exhaust and it only yielded 4 rwhp gain...would everyone still be bitchin at Injen? Or would the exhuast company take the fall?

Everyone knows you can't add cumulative, yet everyone is so eager to point the finger and say fail. I'm gonna play the optimist here and wait to see what happens after ECU tuning is fully resolved.

As far as a stock before/after dyno, I may be able to make that happen this weekend. Funds are tight, bought too many toys this month ...but I'll see. It also depends on if my friend knows how to run the dyno, as we're installing it after-hours.

By front baffles, are you referring to the fake black grill on each lower corner of the bumper? If so, those are molded in and part of the bumper itself. They would have to be cut out. At least that is how it is on the sedan.

You can easily take them out on the coupe...its held in w/ tabs, no cutting required. Only thing is it looks weird as the painted tabs can be seen if you take the baffles out.

I actually thing they are held in with a screw or something... Not 100% sure though...
