Hey Volk, I have a question. This maybe for the fujita company (techs) but even if the 350z intakes fit and the car runs rich, couldn't you lean out the air fuel mixture with a Apex'i SAFC-II or VAFC?

I know on my old car, I would either run rich or lean based off of the type of power adder (bolt-on) that I added to the car. I would just get a dyno tune to lean out the mixture a little and would gain more whp. I would rather buy the 350z intakes that run rich and lean out the mixture for more whp (plus the intakes sit farther from the engine) than get the g37 intakes. A dyno tune wouldn't cost much and I already have a SAFC-II. For some reason I like the way the 350z intakes look.

I will call Fujita tomorrow and try to get some questions answered.

Finagle69,

How much did you pay for your Fujita intake and do you have any concern for sucking the hot air under the hood.

At least the Stillen intake comes with heat shields which should keep hot air getting into the intake.

the heat shields will NOT keep hot air from getting in the intake. if hot air wants in, it gets in. i'm not concerned with it one bit. as you start moving, cooler outside air will go into the intakes.

i paid 307.80 plus 11 shipping. no tax as they are outside of CA.

EDIT: the Fujitas also happen to look 100x better than the Stillens.

heat shields

Finagle....
I disagree with what you said about heat shields not working.....I have seen that the HKS racing intakes truly prevent overheating in systems with their included heatshields, but I guess it also depends on the grill of the car and airflow. Still, how would you guys compare a Fujita intake with an Injen intake in general??? -jb

Finagle,

I'm also disagreed with your theory on hot air will find its way to the intake because the opening of the heat shield is only facing towards the front grill where the source of the cold air is.

I really don't like how most of the intake systems are testing under condition that you'll never sees during normal daily basis driving. Basically the hot air will be trapped under the hood and circulate around even with air flowing into the engine bay.

I've done short ram intake dyno on my 02 Civic SI while back and I saw about 8 ~ 10HP differences between hood open vs. closed with same fan blowing right in front of the bumper opening.

I believe that you'll expect to see huge difference between the intake w/o shield vs. w/shield when the hood is completely closed regarless of your car being moving or not.

Just my two cent and thanks for the pricing info for Fujita intake. Please let us know how it feel and few pictures would be nice too.

You guys should read this:

The intake temp is different than underhood temps. The G35, 37, 350Z, and most newer cars have temp readings in the sensor. While your car is moving, intake temps go way down and of course at a stop light, idle, or in traffice, temps do rise.

cai

cais are nice, but u dont want to flood your engine. wait for some more ram air products to come out with more r&d to make ur decision....just my opinion.

The fact of matter is that they saw higher intake temperature from their test and it will definitely degrade the overall power of the engine.

i've had headers, plenums, crankpulleys, intakes, exhausts...and the best performance mod was only after everything was put on and got it tuned with a reflash.

my Z with intake alone was just a noisemaker..

how much is the fujita giving to the wheel. whats better fujita or stillen. which gives more power. is it better to go with a stillen exhaust and intake rather then 2 diff brands, or does it not even matter??
