Picked up my G37 Sport 6 MT in California a couple of weeks ago and drove it to Connecticut in 3 plus days. Great break in ride! Super car. Had a 993 911, but this is a "better" vehicle. Many more comforts, space and still kicks azz. I ordered the spring and thanks to all forum members who have posted their install procedures. I will do the mod and post in a couple of weeks.

 

Started the install by applying 2 ties to the new spring and compressing it. I then measured the distance from my front seat to the clutch pedal compressed and it was a little less than about 24 inches. I found a perfect 24 inch aluminum level and after padding the front of the seat and using about a 6 inch square of wood, I wedged the level between the depressed clutch and the seat. I then moved the power seat forward just a hair to make it kind of tight.

With the spring depressed, I found the spring clip on the bottom and rotated it so if it sprung off, it would come toward me. I initially tried to get a small flat blade in to pry it off, but just grabbed it with a good pair of needlenose pliers and pulled it off, very controlled.

The pin came out very easily with the clutch depressed and no pressure on the spring. I got out my new spring and found that I couldn't get the top assembly in because the ties were too fat. I cut them off. Use thin, small ties and it will probably work better.

I made sure the bottom of the assembly with the small marks on it( see previous pages) was facing towards the brake. Had a little difficulty getting the pin in, until I started it first, just a little, then felt for the hole, while pushing the pin in and moving the assembly around a little. With the constant pressure on the pin, it found the hole and pushed all the way through. I used the needle nose and put the pin back on. Job done.

Thanks to JSolo and the other forum members who took the time to write up the procedure. Now I have to take it for a ride.

 

Using a crutch like that is real over-kill, but whatever works, works. Congrats on your ingenuity.

I love staying subscribed here and reading about other people who've discovered Jsolo's group-buy thread. It's neat sympathizing with other 6MT owners as they realize how much better this clutch pedal is after the mod.

 

The trick is to figure out how to wedge yourself so you can can depress the pedal with one hand (left), and manipulate the pin/spring assembly with the other. Having good light is important, even if you do this in the daytime.

As for the clip, using a screwdriver is a good way to have it fly away somewhere you'll never find it. Needle nose pliers have worked best for me.
