installed in about 15-20 min. The feel is def better than before and the spring is no longer restricting foot control at that critical engagement point. This is a must mod for all 6MT

Thanks but i plan on going to a far more aggressive clutch soon and want to gauge it after. Thinking about going GTM stage 2 turbo.

Is anyone else getting a "boing' noise when pressing the pedal after performing this mod? It gives a better engagement feel for sure. But I already have a pretty stiff pedal from my aftermarket clutch and CSC. Now I get a left leg workout daily. I'm going to put one in the wife's stock 6MT because the pedal in hers is very soft.

I get that noise too, with or without the spring. Im pretty sure it's from the plunger boot - unless we're talking about two different noises. Is it a rubbery noise or more metalic?

It's the return spring. It's a spring type of low metallic boing. Like its been in a bind and is releasing. I think.

^^ I recall when researching the design of the spring type used in this car, the term over center [spring] came up a few times. Also, it has to do with why there are actually 2 springs in the mechanism - the main assist spring and the much weaker, smaller diameter spring towards the top clevis.

I think the noise you're hearing is the compression of this smaller spring. Happens on the upstroke (lifting foot up/off the floor) right? One possible solution is to use some sort of rubber bushing between the shaft and smaller spring. Its length should not exceed the compressed length of this shorter spring. Generous application of some grease would keep it from binding.

^^LOL.. Technically, it hasn't. The label's been generated, but it will be officially deposited in the blue collection box sometime tonight Active scans usually show up the day after it's been picked up by the usps.

@canucklehead, yours will be dropped off at the post office on Thursday.

Got the spring today and installed within a few minutes. I can definitely feel a difference - pedal action feels more smooth from top to bottom with the new spring. Best $17 I've spent in awhile...thanks again Jsolo!

jsoslo shiiped part super quick but took me while to install b/c I wanted get a baseline with stock setup first (just bought the car).

install took less than 30min even after having to do it twice b/c i forgot the spring seat when reassembling the first time and giving up on removing top pin b/c wiring haress kept getting in the way. after removing bottom pin the whole assy popped apart which is when I lost the spring seat w/o knowing it. of course I found it when picking up my stuff and got to do it all over again but that only took 5min.

I thought I had gotten the stock setup figured out and started second guess buying the spring. 95% of time I got stock to be ok after seat adjustments and modifying my clutch pedal release (faster and don't bother slipping at all). but there are situations you want to slip it and that's when I was reminded why I bought the spring.

after installing it, I can't believe the difference. I don't even have to think about it anymore its just natural and smoother in all situations.

hats off to jsolo for mod that I'll appreciate every time I drive.

Will this work on my vehicle:

2007 Infiniti G35s 6mt 2nd Generation HR

This car is probably very similar with the g37 set-up.

Most likely identical to:

2007-2008 Infiniti G35s HR 6mt
2007-2008 Nissan 350z HR 6mt

Let me know if you have found that these will work with the above mentioned cars.

I know that your spring is softer and slightly longer than stock...
