Thumbs up New G37 Owner from NC

Hey all. I had a Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax that gets 17 mpg around town. Diesel hit $4.10 a gal here in Charlotte and I realized it was time to sell the truck while I still can. Last Friday I came across a used 2007 G35 with 5k miles at an Infiniti dealer near where I live. On Saturday I test drove it, loved it and was ready lay down some green but decided to at least test drive a G37. I was blown away. Fast forward 2 hours later...no longer need to buy diesel and I get to drive home a new G37. First time Inifiniti (or Nissan for that matter) owner. I've had Supras, a Ford F-150 Lightning and a tricked out '73 Chevy LUV back in day of cruising "the boulevard" in SoCal on Friday and Saturday nights. This G37 is by far the most advanced and "tight" handling car I've ever driven. BTW I was also looking at and test drove the BMW 335i and Lexus IS350. With the Premier and Nav packages Infiniti is offering in this car, Active Steering (my fav) and the price, I could not have done better at BMW or Lexus. Icing on the cake was the excellent trade I got for my Silverado from the dealer and the negotiated price of $1400 over invoice. No plans for any mods yet. I'm still too much in awe to imagine that anything needs to be improved.

Welcome a fellow Charlotte owner! So far I've seen one other G37 in Charlotte a IP. I've been rather amazed, and enjoying the rareity of having a G in this city but knew it wouldn't be too long.

First thing I'd do is read the detailing section. If you've not familiar with how to take care of your paint there's good info there. I recently ordered a porter buffer and the advanced kit from Detailed Images... that's a must for an OB owner. Good luck and happy buffing.

Nice car. I'm sure you are going to enjoy it. I"m with you on the 4 wheel active steer- I think its one of the best options on the car- definately something that they better carry forward to future models. Enjoy the car!

You won't be buying diesel, but you won't get much (if any) better than the same 17 mpg around town. Many are reporting even worse.

I took that into consideration actually. My justification: 1) demand for diesel worldwide and the US will keep it .50 - .60 per gal more than gas for the foreseeable future and 2) the G37 smokes the Silverado in the 'fun to drive' category even with the leather interior, Bose, etc... I had in the truck.

RedG37SNC: Thanks for the detailing tips. When I owned an '00 Ford F-150 Lightning several years back I became familiar with Zaino products from a bunch of other Lightning enthusiasts. Already have an order in for stuff. I've not seen any other G37's around the Charlotte/Huntersville area. I almost bought a Red G, but have too many memories of the tickets I racked up with the Red Lightning I had. I'll look out for ya.
