Failing battery on G37
Failing battery on G37
So I have a G37 and the battery appears to be going bad ( I will be putting car away for the winter) So my question is should I leave battery in car for winter with a battery tender on it. Or disconnect negative lead.
Im curious as too wether there might be potential electronics damage by having a disconnected battery for the winter.
Volt meter shows battery voltage dropping as it sits, I have also done amp test to see if the system has any parasitic drains, readings are normal at this point.
Does anyone out here have a idea of what would be best for storage. The battery is not my concern as I will buy a new one in spring, just concerned about electronics/computers etc...
thx

I'm assuming the car will be stored in a garage?
If the car is absolutely not going to be used over the course of winter it would be best to completely disconnect and physically remove the battery. This will prevent any issues to the cars electrics as the battery degrades- whether it is on a tender or not- and also should the battery freeze or develop a leak (assuming it is a flooded type). This in addition to any protocol you may want to enlist for preparing the car for long-term storage.
Come spring, buy a new battery, connect it, and drive on.

Are you storing the car on jack stands to prevent damage to the tires?
