2011 G37 sudden deceleration

Today, while driving on the freeway as normal, my car begin to decelerate. I tried to accelerate but it did not respond. It continues to decelerate to a crawl, and putted a bit before I pulled onto the shoulder to stop. It's not the battery as the car starts up fine, and I'm able to put it in gear, but why would it decelerate to a crawl? The tow guy saw that it was leaking...he said it was oil but I'm not sure. Waiting for the auto repair shop to give me an update. Does anyone have an idea what this could be?
