Service Engine Soon light Error Code P0456

My service engine soon light came on today. I have just over 60k on the car. It's either evap emmision control system very small leak or canister purge valve. So I went to check my fuel cap and found I couldn't even open the compartment to check the cap! I got gas two days ago and noticed the pump was spewing out gas before I even starting filling the tank. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and can give me any tips on a fix before I go to the dealership and possibly spend a lot of money unnecessarily.

emission controls components are covered under 8/80 federal emissions warranty guidelines. this is assuming you have not gotten any repairs done due to collision or have rodent damage to emissions related components because this will void the warranty.

Thank you for the response! I was able to pry the lid open to check my gas cap. The SES light is still on and the cap appeared to be secure. I guess I'll have to go to dealership anyway to figure out this SES situation. I really appreciate the reply.

Make sure vacuum hoses on intakes aren't loose or off
