Should I Change My Oil?

So I last changed my oil on 10-22-14 with Mobil1 5w30. In the 4 month span since, I've put about 575 miles on the car and was planning to change the oil again but don't know if I am being too excessive or just wasting money if I do. If I wait I would probably just wait 1 more month but no longer than that since it will be 5 months the end of next month.

What do you guys think? And for those who drive their G very little as well, how long between oil changes do you wait before changing?

You could just send that money to me instead of throwing it away. Lol. 575 miles? Personally I'm much more of a believer in changing oil based on mileage rather than time. If you drive super low mileage, change it once a year.

lol - yeah, it's more of a weekend car so I don't drive it much during the week. And even if I did, I'm literally about 6 minutes away from work so she gets very little mileage put on her. As a matter of fact, my 21 year old daily driver, '94 3000GT SL, only has about 113k on it.

Oil doesn't go "bad" after a few months, all the lubricating properties are still there even after a year. The whole "3 months" thing seems like a ploy to get you to change your oil more often so that they can make more money. 575 miles is nothing, I change it myself every 3k on a twin turbo G and every 5k on a stock G.

Well look at it this way, do you think they throw out oil like yogurt at Auto zone after it sits for 15 days on the shelf? Now if we were talking 3 years, I would change it. Miles over time unless its excessive time and even then its debatable.

I'm with BB on this. Mine sees ~1.5-3K miles a year, sometimes even less. Change the oil once during mid summer with synthetic and call it a day (or a year).

I would certainly wait, I change my synthetic every 6k miles. Maybe I'll start doing it every 5k now tho but it should be fine for about that mileage, 575 is not much that oil is still fresh!
