New slotted perform.rotor and perform. brake recommendations?
I'm not exactly sure about replacing my rotors also but one was recently warped or resurfaced.
I do need pads though. I'm looking for mostly cool operation and quiet with something close to good street performance (faster car) stopping power.
If I do get rotors they'll need to be slotted. My brakes are said to get too hot but maybe just because they're worn.
I was looking at EBC Red Stuff but it it kinda pricey. Rotors I have no clue about. They all rust and look like crap right?
Thank you

Soolman has them on his nice G too!

Do I need slotted and drilled though? I get pass on dimpled. I already have drilled ones somehow --those the OEM?
Light weight would be valuable to me and so would coolest operation materials. This make me a ceramics candidate? I do want to drive it, you know, briskly, but not hard.
I'll go with StopTech by Centric but not decided on rotors. I would like to buy the best I can afford. Would black zinc covered go better with my slate blue G37x S?
Some things to pour over before I buy my pads. I may not really need rotors but one was resurfaced for warping due to heat. So avoiding heat is important. Agreed it would stop great with some premium ceramic pads? I'm presuming the ceramic runs cooler on the rotor....no idea really.

those drilled rotors that you have would not be OEM, Infiniti doesn't offer drilled rotors on these cars.
Oh, and the black zinc quickly wears to silver once the pads make contact. The black zinc is for keeping a nice black look inside the slots, drilled holes and the area inside the pad/hub where the pad doesn't make contact. Protects against rust pretty well too
For a nice deal on blank rotors & stoptech pads check out KNS brakes
KNS Brakes
brake rotors
The guys at KNS are top notch..agree with blnewt on that. I also like DBA rotors...great rotors and KNS has a special on them right now for the 4000 series. if you buy pads as well the deal cannot be beat.
Ask to speak to Nick. great guys and knowledgeable.

One had to be resurfaced and I read from a few sources, none any more reliable than the previous or this one, I set out to price replacing them. So maybe I should resurface and keep them all?
I do want to find out what brand. Heat issues are bad on this car for the brakes clearly and it is noted on my service records.

A couple years ago I read on another forum that you can warp rotors by keeping the brakes clamped on a hot rotor. When you stop quickly, or have been driving briskly, once you stop let off the brake a bit to let the car roll forward. I used to think that was due to uneven cooling as you sat at a stoplight causing the rotor to warp. However, after digging a bit for this post I found an excellent article that clarifies things. Apparently letting off the brakes after a hard stop is a good idea but it prevents pad material from transferring to the rotors. Here's the link:

Eventually there will become a time when you will have to replace the rotors on your braking system. The point of slotted and drilled rotors is to help dissipate heat and wipe the pads clean. If you don't do real aggressive street driving or track duty you may not need slotted rotors but if your constantly hard on the brakes then you probably should replace with a good slotted rotor.

hello
decided on StopTech Cryo-Sport Stop drilled (only) rotors since it would probably be a good idea with new Hawks Perform Ceramic pads. I'm going to replace brake pads and get nice ones like this would you all recommend just doing the rotors now since. In case you all wondered, yes, I am mentally challenged. Lol, and not sorry for it.
It's difficult to make the calls on this stuff without experience ya' know....OK a little embarrassing.
Anyway yeah that rotor has been resurfaced once before.....if I have the cash do it or just resurface again?? I suppose it depends on tolerances for resurfacing. The G37 brakes hard with OEM pads/rotors so I wont consider this a performance upgrade despite the cost just to replace rotors that are prone to warping. OEM do seem very prone to warp and overheating.
Thank you for the Helps. I'm not sure what is the wisest budget conscious thing is to do here. We're at 3 on the rears pads now so....

Newad, how many miles are on your G? Sounds like you picked up some quality rotors & pads, I think I'd just bite the bullet and do a complete rotor & pad install along w/ some DOT 4 brake fluid. Should make a nice difference.
Oh hey,
It's been awhile since I was at these forums. Well one has 110k and the other has 70k and is under warranty still. Neither has had the brake fluid changed but I know I need it on the 110k old lady. The fluid was just checked and topped off or whatever they do and it was as good as Just Fine. I won't wait until it burns. It's a bouncy brake experience and surprised the recent inspection generated no comments from the techs. The Infiniti dealer said just $299 to resurface rotors and add pads I buy from Centric unless the stock OE are better. $450 brake resurface and pad change. Hope I quoted him right....
