2008 G37S transmission reliability?

So, I've looked at two G37S' down here in Texas with a 6MT that have a replaced transmission even though they're both under 30k miles.

Is this a rarity? Just some extremely weird coincidence? Or do people generally just beat the hell out of these cars?

Thanks!

I beat the crap out of my 37 but at 26k miles I haven't had a transmission problem yet.

the 6MT tranny is known for synchro wear issues. my '04 G35 had a tranny replacement. my '09 has a couple issues that i intent to have addressed at the dealer.

the good news is that tranny replacements are usually with a revised part number. this solved the problem with the '04.

for me, it's still a no-brainer to go with the 6MT. the 6MT may not be butter-smooth, but it's more than fine for good shift quality. compared to Honda our gear boxes are rough...

Lmao I have a 2008 g37s 6mt I got in 09/07 I have 85,000 miles and had my cars tranny changed more than my gf changes her tampons lol... I'm on number 5 or 6 I honestly lost count I have extended warranty so they were all covered but now the service advisor is telling me that infiniti won't replace the transmission any more :-/ pissed me off I'm starting to think maybe it's my driving lol I heard of the synchro problems aswell and my gears that went out were first 2nd gear, second and third tranny was 3rd gear and my last two were 5th gear... I'm sure I'm screwed as soon as the warranty is out but does any one have any suggestions?

Stop doing whatever you are doing. It's not possible that you got 5 or 6 bad transmissions in your car. It's you. I don't know what you are doing to the transmission, but it is very, very wrong. You should probably learn to properly drive a stick shift before your warranty expires and they stop giving you transmissions.

OP, I'm at 82K and no transmission issues other than it's not particularly smooth or quiet. I did replace the clutch and flywheel at 60K. They make an obnoxious amount of release bearing noise. But IMO they seem to be relatively solid.

Can you describe the release bearing noise? I am noticing my 6MT makes a noise with the clutch pushed in, to me kinda sounds like a ball bearing pinging around in there, but I really have no idea. Also gives some noise when getting going releasing the clutch from a stop in 1st.

So I've been experiencing this known "synchro whine" issue in 1st and 2nd gears b/w 2k-3k RPM in my pre-owned 08 G37S 6MT with 44k miles. I brought it to the dealer i purchased it from and they're changing the transmission. I totally didn't expect it but I'm not complaining, that's what warranties are for. Just wanted to let everyone know that another G transmission bit the dust.

Funny they are replacing it for that. I wouldn't be surprised if the new one is the same. 350 and 370z owners deal with the same noise issue and it's perfectly normal. I don't think it's faulty. It's just a noisy transmission.

My guess its a preemptive measure to make sure if there is anything wrong, it will be resolved. Like a fresh start. I'll update and let everyone know if I still hear the whine or if its better.

I hope they change the master and slave clutch cylinders as well, my clutch pedal definitely changed in the past 2 months of ownership.

No doubt--who wouldn't want a new one if they could get one. It'd be a shame if they didn't replace the other components along with it.
