Another Key question
So, let's say you're sitting at a restaurant or something, near a window, and your car is parked close to you. What's to prevent someone from jumping in and driving away with your car? How far do you have to be before the car no longer senses the key? I'm assuming that once the car's been started, you can drive even without the key.
Also, suppose your key battery dies, and you don't have your second key. Is there a way to drive your car with the physical key?

The key needs to be in the immediate proximity if the door or trunk to unlock the car (I think 31"?). Also, it must be sensed inside the car to start it. If the battery is completely dead, you can take the physical key out of the fob and unlock the driver side door in the traditional manner. You will get a "low battery" warning for the key on your instrument panel before I dues completely; I got it yesterday.

ya the oem remote has such crappy range, no one is going to steal the car. and like ben said, if the remote battery dies then you just use the hole to the left of the steering wheel which is what it was designed for.
i wouldn't call it crappy range. They don't want you to be shopping in Walmart while some guy is pulling your amps and subs out of your trunk. It's designed to be "crappy"
wow, im surprised when you bought the car that the dealership didn't tell you about what to do if the key dies lol
about the removeable key and the hole on the side of the steering column.
