2 service or not 2 service?

So I hit the 3000 mile mark and I got some maintenance notification #1 and #2 this morning on my drive to work (Im guessing oil change and what not?). My question is do I have to take it to my dealership for these notifications of can I take it somewhere cheaper. When I called my dealerships service dept. the guy was like well its $75 and its best if you bring in to us for the 3750 mile maintenance. I guess I should've researched a little more but don't most new cars come with free service for the first year or something (my old bmw did)? Also at what mile marks will I absolutely have to take it to my dealership? What have the rest of you done with your service checkups?

Free service? LOL you paid for it you just didn't know. No point in bringing it to the dealer til the third service interval. I got a free maintanence plan with my lease so I take it to the dealer.

Thats what I thought but the service manager was like you should bring it here for "service checkups" not anywhere else. Thats why I was asking what are the service intervals every 3k miles? What is the mileage that you should/have to take it to your infiniti dealer? every 3750, 7k, 15k? This is my first really nice car and lease at that hence my questions take it easy on me LOL.

Isn't it better taking it to a dealer, so they'll have ur record on file. And aren't all dealer information all connected. Any place else, u have to keep records (receipts).

So you throw your oil change receipts in your glove box, does that make life too tough?!

You never have to take it to the dealer. My cars only sees the dealer if and when a warranty repair is needed. The maintenance requirements are clearly spelled out in the owners manual. You can have this work done anywhere or do it yourself. The dealer will try to sell you service you don't need, that's how the service department makes money.

Doesn't anybody read the owners manual?
