When I first start my car

I am less than 1,000 miles on my car and I noticed a couple of things when I first start it. I am not sure if I should worry or not. When I first start it in the morning after sitting 8 hours (but not in the afternoon where its hot outside), I notice a fuel smell. Is this normal for a car with so little miles? I only run 93 octane since we can't get 91 here. Also, it idles pretty rough until the first 30 seconds and it sounds crappy, then the exhaust notes change and all is well. It doesn't smoke or anything like that either. This is my first brand new car so I am not familiar with all the things that go on in the first several thousand miles. Can someone help me or at least tell me that everything is normal.

i believe the exhaust note changing is normal unless you hear a "rattling" sound, but i don't know about the fuel smell... you sure it's fuel? or more of a burnt rubber smell?

Yes it is normal for the fuel smell when you first start the car, that has to due with the cats not being warmed up to allow the gas to be properly burnt off. I get the samething sometimes, but once the car has been idling for a couple minutes it's fine.

Normal rough idle?

Any fuel injected auto. that I've owned that stumbled at first startup cold usually had some kind of issue with fuel delivery..including dirty injectors or leaking injector o-rings...also your fuel smell! Just because its got no miles yet..mine is fine and have 1600 miles. I would bring it back to your dealer and let them keep it for a couple of overnight stays. Let them know your'e concerned about the smell of gas....no worried!
