Oil recommendations for FBO Tune setup
Oil recommendations for FBO Tune setup
Hey guys, I currently have a g37x that’s FBO and tune by z1. I’ve been using 5w30 liqui moly for my oil changes, every 2.5-3k. The g37 is also my daily driver and I sometimes have the occasional spirited drive on the weekends. The tune is conservative but it has a burble map(not super aggressive burbles) no flame map. Is it recommended to run 5w40 instead with my g37?
I ran 5w30 Amsoil for some time, recently switched to 5w40 Motul 8100. Can't say I notice a difference daily driving, but I personally prefer 5w40 regardless of mods (based on nothing other than having always done it in previous "fun" cars). Generally if the car is still N/A with strictly bolt-ons there's no real reason to deviate from the manufacturer's recommendation. If you want to be extra cautious you could reach out to Z1, since they did your tune, and see what they recommend for cars they've setup similar to yours.
Have been tuned for roughly 6 or so years now. I've gone through quite a few different oil brands/models and weights. Have sent some for used oil analysis and all provided the same protection for my type of driving and environment.
I've used the following over the years:
Mobil 1 European Formula 0w40
Mobil 1 5w30
Mobil 1 10w30
Castrol Edge European Formula 0w40
Castrol Edge 5w30
Amsoil Signature 5w30
Shell Rotella T6 5w40
and currently on Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30
