My g37 coupe 08 5at fbo wont cross 310 wheels tuned on 91 oct. Is this normal ? ive seen people making 320-330 wheels on average.
my mods : 3" cai
ported manifolds
76mm Tb's
short headers
test pipes
y pipe (2x2" going into 1x3" pipe)
cat back exhaust system
The 5at can contribute in a small percentage however being that you already broke past 300 means the 5at might not be holding you at all. Now Direct gear on the 7at is 5th gear. On the 5at I would expect 3rd but it's possible that the run was done on 4th which will different numbers.
Lastly and the biggest one is 91 oct. You're not too far off from the average on 91 and I would say you're possibly one of the highest on a 5at.
If available, 93 get you closer to a 315whp if not depending on your goals, you'll be better off switching to E85. Throw some elevation and calibration and we're talking a few WHP.
Dont be too discouraged about it. On another note, your 3rd gear should rape some folks. With a 5at on a high rev making power engine, the longer you can stay in the highest horsepower making side of the graph the longer you'll be utilizing it's max power. Dont let it surprise if you start catching folks in 4th after 5000rpms. Most newer fast cars drop power substantially after certain rpm and or run out of boost.
With ethanol and maybe some LTH you'll be closer to a 325 or so.

Im actually thinking to replace my 5at with a 7at and get the newer ecu so i can install an flex kit. My current 08 ecu restricts me from using an flex kit.
Rest i also think my exhaust system might be restricting me as i have a y pipe 2"x2 going into 3"x1 and then a dual exhaust. I want to go true dual ( H exhaust system ) with 2.5"x2 till the end. As all the aftermarket exhaust for vhr's are 2.25 or 2.5 in H system till the end and my current exhaust systems is for DE's.

If more power is what you're after. 3 inch single is the way to go. The most power + least amount of weight.
