Walking up to my car from behind yesterday and I saw something hanging out over my licence plate. Turns out it was the licence plate light. I reached my hand up in and everything behind the bumper cover is all rusted out?
I live in Canada and undercoat every year, but I guess it was never sprayed back there. It is garaged all the time. Hopefully the bumper is good and it is just some bolt on parts. Yikes! Off to a body shop this week.
It is a 2013 G37X sedan. Turned 11 in July. Mileage is about 85,000Kms. (About 53,000 miles.)
It is probably just the bracket for the license plate lamps. These are notorious for rusting out. Everything else under the bumper is aluminum so I am sure you are okay there.

Hopefully, they just pull the bumper cover off and that's it. All around the opening felt a little dry and crunchy.
I was really shocked as the car looks great especially for an 11 year old car. Just my front bumper cover has some chips from highway debris.
I was going all through the trunk and it looks brand new all around.
