g37 headlight housing

hi all, one of my headlight housing, the seal is bad, or been detoriated over time and letting all kinds of water in. ive lost a new bulb cause of it. do i have to order the whole unit, or are there gaskets or weather stripping to replace this so i dont have to buy a new housing. this is on an 2009 with 252k miles.
thanks!
mark

ps dont laugh, but i was thinking since i ordered two bulbs when i replaced it, ill just take the old one out. and use a hairdryer and blow in the hole to dry the remaining water out, put new bulb back in, and use silicon seal around the headlight housing lol .

Do not waste your time with silicone. It will not hold up. Butyl sealant is used for almost all waterproofing when it comes to headlights, windshields, etc. Best advice is to remove the headlight, open them up, clean the inside as well as remove the old sealant, and reseal the unit. The following videos will help:

Resealing:

You can either use the Morimoto RetroRubber Butyl Glue/ Sealant or the OCI Butyl Glue/ Sealant. I believe the OCI is more popular as it is more pliable to work with than the Morimoto which is more firmer in consistency. Either will work just do not use silicone.
