Mixing All Season with Summer Tires
Mixing All Season with Summer Tires
Don't hate me, but I always buy used tires. earlier this year I bought a pair of 245/45/18 Michelin A/S 3+ I got them for a hundred bucks but the biggest issue is that they are from 2018 and 2019. I wish I had checked first. I would have never bought them. they aren't installed on the car I've been waiting for my A/S 3s to wear down more. Now I'm tempted to have them installed, especially with the rainy season in California coming I was looking at the fronts, they probably are at 4/10 so I am thinking I should replace them in 2024. I found some great deals on Michelin 4s summer tires.
I don't love the thought of putting 4 and 5 year old tires on the rear, but I know the other option is tossing them and getting another set. If I had them installed, they would be on the car for 2 years. If that was the case, I might end up with Summer fronts and winter rears for at least a year.
At least they are some of the best tires around
Any thoughts?

No hate- but combining summer and winter tires are never a good idea. Different rubber compounds won't work well with the G37. Braking and cornering will suffer, and tires with 4 32nds will not last for long. Your G deserves better, and it only takes a single accident when grip becomes a factor to erase any savings you might have made.
5 years old is not a problem, particularly for California tires. But 4/32" isn't going to be very safe in heavy rain. And dkmura is right not to mix A/S with high performance summer-only tires.
