Different rear tires vs front tires

So I'm about to purchase an IPL, and it has Khumo all season tires on it (big sigh). As you know, all season means no season. I was really hoping for dedicated summers on it. The fronts are both rated at 10/32" while the rears are 8/32 and 9/32, so they are pretty new (right?).

Would I get all the benefits of summer tires just by swapping out the rears for summer tires? Am I going to run into any issues doing so? It's staggered set up, so I can't even rotate fronts/backs anyways...

I live in the midwest and have been planning on getting a dedicated winter wheel/tire set up for the winter, so all season is pretty useless to me. Is it feasible to try and sell the tires? It seems that 19" all seasons wouldn't be very attractive to many people.

Yeah, most 19" tires that come for this car have relatively low tread depth. 10/32 is pretty new.

I don't see how you could possibly get the benefit of summer tires without putting summer tires on the car. You'll see some benefit in handling by swapping your all season rears with performance oriented tires, Rochester here on the forum changed out his rears for Pilot Super Sports a while back and he noted the difference. However, it's obviously not as good as a full setup.

You can certainly try to sell the tires, you wouldn't want to ship it, obviously, but you might as well put it up for a local deal just to get it out of the way.

You can do it safely. You won't get any performance benefit from it in road driving.

I won't get any benefits from having dedicated summers on my rears with all seasons on the fronts.. on a RWD car? Seems that I'd recognize at least something?

What increase in performance would you expect to gain from that setup?

On your header it says a G37X coupe
At any rate, your rear summer tires will out perform your front A/S tires which isn't really a great setup, you want your tires to perform equally well, especially if you're really pushing the car. If you just want to "get by" until you can buy the front summer tires then get the summer rears, don't push your car and get the matching front set. Then have some fun

Like wearing two different kind of shoes. Really not the best idea as you can upset the balance and handling of the car. This is amplified when mixing an all season with summers especially. Mixing Tires

idk, i figured RWD with the nice rear tires would help a lot. Judging by the responses in this thread though, I am wrong. I will definitely not be doing the proposed 'solution'. This is why I asked

Thanks everybody!

I can tell you from having had better rears than fronts that it didn't improve performance at all for me. I currently have all seasons tires on the rears and summer tires on the fronts that there's no benefit that way either. In my case, it is because the Michelin PSS were on national backorder in the size I needed and I decided to change to a different tire since they don't ever seem to produce enough of them in my size to have a pair available when I need them. When the front tires need replacement I will change those over to the A/S 3 as well and be done with PSS until they get their act together on production. This is the second time that none have been available in 285/30/20 and I want a tire that I can get easily when I need replacements without waiting a month.
