Sticky substance inside rear windshield
Sticky substance inside rear windshield
I own a 2011 G37 that is not garaged. I am not a smoker. This substance looks a bit foggy and is difficult to remove, even with Goof-Off or Mineral Spirits. I’m wondering if my after-market window tint is sort of “melting”. I don’t want to keep trying to remove the substance if I’m doing more harm than good.
What should I do?

It might be the tint degrading. I just had my rear window tint replaced this morning. Mine started peeling up a few months ago. Been on the car 6 years and looks fine otherwise. Side windows have no issues at all. Llumar ceramic so I have a lifetime warranty and the shop actually stood behind it and replaced it free. If it's regular dyed tint it may be fading or something.
Definitely sounds like the window tint is starting to degrade. Mine is starting to flake off in certain spots and getting "cloudy." Can't complain, it's been on there for about 13-years or so. Because of the ridiculous tinting laws here, I am skeptical if I want to replace it but that is a different topic.
Best to have it professionally removed and even then there is no guarantee that the rear defogger grid won't get damaged. Unless other forum members here have a secret that they would care to share?
