HYPOTHETICALLY!!!

That appears to be the power wire for the 4WAS (4-Wheel Adaptive Steering) relay. Your car may or may not have that system (I doubt it, but possible).

Is there a empty "slot" next to where the blue wire is?

Unless your car has 4WAS I would just leave it alone.

You are actually correct, thank you very much but the only other issue I have right now is that my car will not turn on at all now after swapping the harness. The key light pops up and can’t go in the ON position or anything. Do you know if I need to get my key reprogrammed or something?

I have a hunch and if I am right you are not going to like the answer.

First, why did you decide to replace the whole body harness? More importantly, what YEAR is your car and what YEAR was the replacement/ donor harness? Be specific here as it does make a huge difference.

If I am correct, the issue is the steering lock- not the module itself, per se, but wiring. Again, a hunch at this point...

I replaced the wiring harness because a rat chewed up my VVEL wiring area and I kept getting codes for VVEL. I swapped the motor and still got the codes for vvel. Anyways I replaced it with a 2009-2010 Manual coupe harness. The part number for the new one I got is 24012-1ND1B. My part number is 24012-1NC1B.
Is there a way to bypass the steering lock?
Do you know what the connector may look like?
There is one more connector thats loose and I can’t find where it goes to. I believe its a 4 pin black/orange connector thats rounded.

The problem with harnesses is that all it takes is for one (1) wire to be in a different slot then you risk bricking the car. 99% of the time it is a simple swap, but that 1%... Plus you are mixing up chassis harnesses which further complicates matters...

If it is the steering lock, there is no bypass. The connector for the module looks like this:

Assuming you hd no issues prior, I doubt the module failed. HIGHLY possible, but I am not a fan of coincidences. There is likely a plug in the wrong slot somewhere. I would double check that each connection is where it is supposed to be. Being a harness is from a MT car, there will be differences. That, and compare your old harness to the new one. This is going to be one of those "trial and error" troubleshooting deals until you figure it out.

Worst case scenario, repair your original harness and re-install.

Okay thank you a lot, I appreciate all of this useful information you’ve provided me. I will get to work and checking the connectors.. making sure they are connected in the same pinholes but I don’t think my original harness is fixable unfortunately.

If I am able to get it fixed before I figure this out then i’ll just do that. Sounds way better than going thru this but my G37 is a 2009 manual sedan so im sure it should be very similar.

I am currently at work but will send a picture of that connector as soon as I get home.
Thanks once again.

Focus on the following connections:
  • steering lock module,
  • Clutch switch,
  • Brake Pedal switch,
  • ASCD switch, and
  • the two (2) connectors at the Unified Mater/ Amp (if you unplugged them in the first place).
In addition, anything you unplugged check to make sure it is fully connected. Does the START button illuminate? Wouldn't hurt to check that as well.

That connector is E116 which is for the BRAKE PEDAL STROKE Sensor. This is used for the Pre-Crash Seat Belt system.

This should not have have any effect on your current symptoms, still, plug it in and see.
