Trying to find the name of these aftermarket wheels
I don't write Google reviews. I'll ask them about a satisfaction warranty and if they can swap the ones they put on for the 225/50/18s, especially as they were the ones that recommended the wrong ones. Admittedly, I am a little pessimistic about the gap being closed enough with the right tires, but hopefully I'm wrong. 4+ inches of space between the (current) tires and the fenders is a lot.

As Epiphany mentioned, you need to aim for about a 26.7 inch diameter tire. 225/50R18 is 26.9 inch, say if you had decided to go 20" wheels, the tire size closest to that diameter would be 235/35R20 or 245/35R20 (depending on the width of your wheel). a 225/35R20 would work also but its slightly smaller at 26.2 inches
So overall, when you change your tires to 225/50R18, you will add about 1.8 inches of tire height, meaning 0.9 inches in every direction (the gaps at the sides and top)
The gap will close because the tires will be taller from the bigger diameter. Moving to a 20" also doesn't guarantee the gap will be closer also because if a smaller diameter tire was chosen, you'll be in the same situation.

Good that the shop will swap them for you. Going to a larger tire much past 225/50/18 will probably start looking like a CUV tire rather than a sedan tire. You probably need larger wheels and lowering of some form to get the look you really want. Whether that's worth it only you can decide.

Thanks a lot for that detailed explanation, projectpanda13. The shop has said that they will take care of it and swap in the 225/50/18 for me. It will still be the Hankook Ventus, which is a thin tire, and there will still be about 3 inches of space in each direction based on your calculation of about 1 inch being added in each direction. But in the future, I assume I could always get a thicker tire if I wanted to close the gap further.
I recognize that car in the first post, a member here by the name of Schulminator: Build thread
His car stood out to me for the molded front sport lip and darker headlights, but thought the overall build was very well done too.
