Incorrect Control AV Radio Box
Incorrect Control AV Radio Box
Hey everyone
I got a 2012 G37x AWD that has the non-navigation system and as soon as I bought the car i’ve been having a bit of an issue with my whole center dash console. For starters when I start my car the display screen pops up with a “Nissan” logo instead of the “Infiniti” logo so that right off the bat is weird. Second thing is that my AC control buttons do not work so for example I cannot control my ac buttons to turn up the ac or switch to heat, the buttons just do not work and the previous dealer who I got it from told me it was the “Unit Box” in the car but how can I go about finding the right part to swap the unit box or what should be my next steps to fixing this?

Sounds like someone tossed the wrong parts at a unknown problem. That is always a recipe for trouble... The "unit box" the sales idiot was referencing could be any number of modules that control the HVAC.
All hope is not lost... but, to clarify, your car is a US-model, yes?
The best thing to do, and likely the most inexpensive, is to search for any local pull-a-part (auto recyclers) or eBay and source three (3) parts: the AV headunit, the Unified Meter & AC Amp, and the preset (HVAC) control panel (the one with the clock). Most sellers on eBay will sell the AV headunit and the Amp as one unit- just have to shop around. There are plenty on eBay for ≈$50-100 (search "G37 25915"). The preset/ clock panel can be found ≈$50 (search "G3725810 25391"). Just keep in mind that the preset panel MUST be from a non-NAV car. The panel from a NAV-equipped car WILL NOT WORK in a non-NAV car.
Now we don't know for 100% certainty what your original part numbers were. In that case, I would search for parts from a car identical to yours.
LMK if your car has the base or Bose system and I will search eBay for some possibilities for you.

So I do have the Bose System and my car is a US car as well
Right off the top found a headunit w/ amp for $60 and another for $50. There are several more under $100 or so. Based on the Infiniti parts catalog, your car should have/ had p/n: 2591A-1MA5E (Bose, non-NAV).
As for the preset switch panel, there are literally dozens on there for less than $75- too many for me to list here. Just search "G37 25391."
I would suggest you try contacting individual eBay sellers... some might have all three pieces from the same vehicle.
Of course, it is your responsibility to VERIFY everything BEFORE you BUY!!!

DO NOT order anything just yet. Let me check on a few things first.
Does the audio work?
All of the buttons work (dial panel)?
The only issue you have is the AC buttons?

So my audio and aux work, my back up camera works, and if you look at that panel where the analog clock is located all of those buttons next to it work but when you go down more to where it has the (A/C buttons, Control with the fan buttons, and the ***** to change the temperature settings) none of those buttons work so everything below the analog clock and below where you put CD’s in all those buttons do not work but everything above does.

Ok, from what I can tell, the ZX78D number the dealer gave you is the one that you need. This unit has multiple configurations that the dealer would set upon installation. The other number (1MA5E) does not apply here so forget that one entirely- no BOSE.
HOWEVER! I think this is one of those cases where you would be better off taking the car to a dealer or a Nissan specialty shop who can put the car on the CONSULT3 scanner and pinpoint what the problem may be. The last thing I want is for you to waste money throwing parts at the car not knowing for sure what is wrong.
I am thinking that because someone installed a Nissan-coded headunit (as evidenced by the Nissan splash screen), that unit might not configured to work with the G37's dual zone HVAC system. The CONSULT3 would tell the mechanic exactly what is going on. Again, I just do not want you throwing parts at it/ wasting good money.
Perhaps others will have better ideas...
