My friend pre-ordered a Q50. When he finally test drove one he was so turned off by the steering he bailed on it. Lost his deposit

I did a quick drive around town in a 2016 q50 3.0t sport. Power delivery is better in the low rpm range as expected. Model I drove had the steer by wire DAS system and it was interesting for sure, but maybe not for everyone. The sport mode is super touchy and is I think what people called "video game mode". In the end it was too much $ for me to pull the trigger on, but it definitely had more upside than the 3.7 q50s.

They are like 16k used. How much are you looking to spend? I drove a Q60 when my car was being serviced. They are better than the Q50 yet more expensive by about 5k.

At this point, id probably go for something around the same value of the car that I had, 16-18k.

I have a 13' G37xS coupe and a 14' Q50S Hybrid (with DAS). They are two very different cars but honestly I love them both. The G is more of a driver's car, you get more real feel of the road, however the Q with its ability to change drive modes really allows for diversity of both sport and comfort. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first but it has really grown on me. I like that when I take long road trips, the car will basically drive itself if I want (I have lane assist, blind spot assist, intelligent cruise) but I can also turn all those things off and have fun with it. It has the sport brakes (same big akebonos that are on my coupe) and sport suspension, combined with the addition of the hybrid drive gives an impressive amount of torque paired with the VQ35 running a 0-60 in ~4.9 sec and avg. 30+ mpg doesn't hurt either.
FWIW I think DAS is something that takes more than a few test drives to determine if you like or hate. I've talked to a few other Q50S owners who were not big fans initially then came to like it, others just hate it...
