I bought that carbon fiber spoiler. The idea of leaving it on with just double sided tape seemed ridiculous to me. So I went and bought the OEM in black and just drilled the trunk. I feel a lot better knowing there are screws holding it on (and tape). I personally like the OEM spoiler on the sedan.

Theres really no reason to be worried about the tape, most lips, body moldings, emblems, etc. are secured using it. After 72 hours an inch of tape will require over 21lbs of pressure to be removed from the body. My factory non sport lip is secured with the same tape from factory which has been slammed into all kids of things bc of how low the car is and it’s been on there for 5 years now without an issue.
However, the stuff that comes from
china like those eBay spoilers uses counterfeit 3m tape a lot so if you decide to use it, I’d scrape the tape off it came with and apply new tape from an auto parts store. It’s also wise to use the 3M adhesion promoter sponges as it will strengthen the immediate bond quite significantly
I bought this of ebay. fitment is very good and has been on my car since June of last year. Its only held on by 3m tape. I did add more than what was provided.
It does seem that a decent amount of people are getting the eBay cf spoiler. I personally have it too as I like it more and it's cheaper than oem. I would recommend buying the 3m double sided tape as well even if the spoiler does come with tape and would also wrap the chrome spoiler black to hide the chrome.

This is how it comes.
This is how it looks just placed on.
This is with the spoiler taped on.
New to this forum, just got one similar to yours but the wholes for the backup camera are too big and the fitment is a bit off.
Do you have the link for this one?

Fully agree. Mine has been mounted this way for a decade with no issues. Not sure why Infiniti even sold these cars without the OEM spoiler as it transforms the look of the car compared to the chrome baret.
Those OEM duckbill spoilers looked awesome on the first-gen G coupe.
It's too bad the OEM spoiler isn't made anymore and it's hard enough to find a used one. I like the ebay carbon fiber spoiler shown above, but I would paint match it to the car since it just looks tacked on.
Most OEM spoilers for these cars are still available. In Japan. US distributors and sellers won't bother with them due to demand, storage, and other factors.
If someone wanted a OEM spoiler, paint matched, there is a strong likelihood you can get one. But they will be stupid expensive.
