What vehicle will be a worthy replacement for your sedan when it is time?
Today's review of the Genesis G70 on AutoBlog is pretty interesting. The photos are excellent, and that interior pops with the diamond-stitching in red threads on the black leather.

I still think this is going to be my replacement for the G. I really hate the wheels though...I like my wheels silver
Definitely interesting, and the interior looks nice.
My biggest hangup is that 255 HP turbo 4 is going to disappoint after the 330 hp G37.

10.3 cubic foot trunk
No factory nav on the 6MT
I'm less optimistic about this after watching that review, and my earlier comment on 255hp.

Wouldn’t be too sure about that, it’s a couple hundred pounds lighter and with some breathing mods and a tune you’ll be nicely surprised. It isn’t like we have torquey low end power motors to begin with... so the power curve should be more than adequate.

I was thinking the same thing on the power drop, but was thinking it may not be that bad b/c torque is almost the same as the G37 and its available throughout much more of the rev range, also the car will be lighter in that configuration, but you will probably feel it in the top end...
the interior is still one of the nicest (except for the stupid tablet style infotainment screen..I just don't like that configuration) I've been in in any car in the past year, but the rear seats have pretty much zero legroom when I'm in the car and I'm only 6ft tall

Are you sure it's lighter? I'm not sure it's going to be light enough to offset a 75 horsepower difference, and while our cars aren't torquey down low, they still pull hard at the top of the tach. The review above mentioned the car falls flat around 5500. I'll be shocked if this car turns out to be lighter than our Gs..

As for tuning the car brand new, you may be not the minority. It would take me a couple years to get the car to a point where a tune made sense. I’m not going to be the first in line for one, and don’t buy cars for warranty. I would most likely be in for 2yr old 20km’s with the parts and tune as a goal, we have different wants
I will watch your linked video when I leave the office and see what they say, either way it’s a test drive option
I love having a manual transmission in my G, but I'd still opt for the V6 turbo over the little four cylinder. Also, note the autoblog comment about how surprised he was that he enjoyed the flappy paddles with this car.
And note the repeated comments about how quiet it is. I want to hear and feel my car while I'm shifting, otherwise it might as well be a set of pedals for the X-Box.

I’ll remind you about how quiet your G was out of the box... I’d agree with you on engine in theory, but until I drove both I wouldn’t be able to tell you my preference. Only then would I say which sacrifice was the right one

over on the Genesis forums i am hearing initial non-instrumented tests with mid-7 second 0-60. that seems hard to believe. i would expect high 5's or very low 6's at worst. my '04 G35 6MT sedan had 260/260, RWD, and weighed almost exactly what the G70 6Mt RWD does, and the G70 has 255/260 with similar gearing. the G35 was tested at 5.8 - 5.9 0-60, so i cannot believe the G70 running ~1.5s slower.
as for the dark 5-spoke sport wheels, this has been a very disappointing bait-and-switch from the sweet 10-sport machined aluminum wheels (above in Lego Maniac's video post) which were on the Genesis pre-order website when i placed my deposit. these 10-spoke wheels were also on all the Sport units at the CAD auto shows.
I'm reminded how years ago (1999?) I test drove the VW Passat and preferred the 4cyl over the 6cyl. And a few years later (2009?) had the same reaction to the VW CC. So with that in mind, I'll backpedal somewhat and agree the cars would have to be driven back-2-back in order to be sure.
Sometimes the lesser engine is the better fit for the car. Actually, that's I feel about the wife's Forester.
^ i have a deposit down for a 2.0T 6MT Sport. but until i drive it, all bets are off. my concern, among a few others, is with the 2.0T's power and the gearbox action. i will be at a Genesis Driving Experience next week, which is an autocross event nearby Vancouver, so hopefully i can test one out. none have arrived yet, all the focus has been on the 3.3T AWD.

Mid 7s would be terrible...My guess would have been low 6s. If random you tube reviews are popping up, C&D or Motor Trend should have a test with instrumented acceleration soon.
