Well I bit the bullet and placed an order for a 2023 CT5-V Blackwing. This was done to assure a spot on the list as it may take forever to get the car built. I would honestly be ok if my order eventually gets kicked to 2024.
Anyways, onto the details.
- 6sp Manual (this is the sole reason to own the car, if you want an auto just go buy an AMG or M car)
- Radiant Red (new color for 23 but very similar to outgoing red) / Red brakes / Red seatbelts
- Carbon Fiber package 1 (front lip, front wheel well deflectors, rear spoiler) - this will most likely hold up my order as CF is on constraint
- Black wheels
- Upgraded seats with suede backs
- Suede steering wheel / shifter
- Ultraview Sunroof
- Parking package (handfree decklid, cabin ionizer, rear camera mirror)
Should look very similar to this but slightly different hue of red. The Escalade V press car actually was shown in the Radiant Red color so I know it isn't too far off. I can change the color up until GM accepts the order. This will be my first new car and hopefully one that serves me for 10+ years (plan is to keep it forever).
Because they killed it for 2022? The GR is going to be a lighter chassis and a better motor from the go. I can see a lot of WRX/STi owners jumping on this once they're ready to move on.
New S3 looks nice. I still think it's a little small... I sat in an S3 a few years back and it was a little claustrophobic. "starts" at 45k but I can't find any at that price.
My kid's new Hyundai Venue came in this morning, and we took it for a little drive. Probably going to finalize things tomorrow or Thursday.
Great technology for this class of car. And a fantastic leather wrapped steering wheel, again not expected in this class of car. She's going to be very happy.
Well, the press for the new Z is overwhelmingly good. I cannot remember the last time a Nissan got so much good press. It sounds like their focus on making it a true driver's car is finally paying off. I cannot wait to drive one and see for myself all the changes.
I agree that the bump in price seemed significant between the base and performance model, but they do add a ton of equipment inside and out. I would look at it this way- if you like half of the features in the package, it is probably worth the upgrade. Hell, the forged Ray's wheels are probably more than $5,000 on their own. I know the forged Ray's wheels on my 370Z were something crazy like $1,300 each!?!

Such a pretty picture. Man this car is tugging at my emotions. Going to have to test drive it (someday ), after which I either succumb or put it behind me.

Man.. I'm right there with you. This is one of the only cars I'd be willing to sell my G for. Don't think that would be possible for 8-10 years+ because we're planning to have a baby soon and that doesn't mesh with a 2 seater.
I'm afraid it would be either stellar and require some sort of concession on my part to talk my wife into it, or the handling would be numb and just leave a sour taste, speed be damned.

So envious Rob, I will be driving vicariously through you until I get one of my own.

That's why they make VK56 swaps (or VR30 if you're feeling modern) lol...
Heheh I'm not about to go tear up a perfectly good G37 to put in a swap just to get a few extra ponies. I'd rather buy a cheap old truck that I wouldn't care much about, to try a VR / VQ / VK swap in. Or just do a built K20/24 swap into a Honda. BULL makes those wire harness kits that should make things a lot easier in that regard.
I think the unsung blessing here is that Nissan is mating a VR30 to a 6-speed manual... that opens the doors to a LOT of previous auto-only cars to have good things (I'm looking at you, Infiniti).
