What vehicle will be a worthy replacement for your sedan when it is time?
I think this will slot in above the CTR, and below the Golf R, so around $40K. Everything is marked up though. Sucky time to need or want to buy a car.

Just catching up on all of your comments. Certainly strange times in this auto industry of ours. Our dealer group in Wisconsin has 35 stores and we have never charged over msrp, nor will we ever. As a result, we are insanely busy and continue to sell out of cars. I sold a new Audi R8 today that will be here in 8-10 months and a new Nissan Rogue that will be here in 2 months. Strange indeed. Thankfully, people are patient, but it sure would be nice to have inventory. We currently sit at about 5% of normal.
Rochester, if you are concerned about warranty coverage at all you may want to look at the Hyundai version of that car since the roadside assistance, complimentary maintenance, and rust through warranty are all longer with a Hyundai (they own Kia).
Lego, I also love a good hot hatch and was shocked to read about the new Toyota. What good timing for them with Subaru announcing they are not bringing out an STI for this generation. I was seriously thinking that would be my next car if they could somehow make it look better than the 2022 WRX, but I had my doubts that was possible.

I don't need it. If you do you due diligence there's plenty of dealers out there that will offer MSRP.
Because there isn't a shortage of stupid or lazy people, that's why. Some people want a car and don't care about the cost.

I appreciate the industry heads up, and I'm not writing off the little Hyundai for the kid, but the Accent doesn't have a hatch version like the Rio.

My what good timing you have. I was really thinking the new STI would finally be a car worth getting, but I guess not. I have a friend at our Cadillac store that just let me know he has an open order for a new CT-4V Blackwing. I am so tempted and it even comes with $3,500 worth of race training. I'm torn because I really like my Type RA and especially the AWD this past winter. The other consideration is a new Audi RS3 which should be lightning fast, but not available with a manual transmission and I am not so sure they got the handling figured out with their poor weight distribution. Decisions, decisions...
I figured you might be after the Rio for the hatch. Good for you. I love the versatility of hatchbacks. The Toyota Corolla hatch looked nice too at the auto show, but I bet it is a lot more $$$.
As a Sedan, I would cross shop the Kia Rio Sedan, the Hyundai Accent, and the Nissan Versa. All three of those fitted to between $19,000 and $20,000, plus tax. And tax isn't insignificant, rolling in at $1,600 for that price.
The Versa was originally utter Yugo-like crap. But the new generation is worlds better. Stylish actually. But still a sub-compact, and with much less warranty than the Koreans.

Mazda CX3. Or Honda Fit - those are both good small hatches, far better than what they cost. I wouldn't call either one a 'hot' hatch though.
For sedan - Hyunda Sonata. Still relatively small but large enough to live with. Boringly reliable but not numb to drive either.
