Q50S/Red Sport (RWD) VS G35/37S Sedan (RWD) - Which is the better Sport Sedan?
You already did Infiniti with your current car. For your next car, do something new. Get out of that rut and explore. BTW, that's a do-as-i-say-not-as-i-do kind of thing, because my G is my fourth consecutive Nissan in 24 years. Also, the Q50 styling is fine, but it's also generic and looks like so many other cars on the road, particularly the Mazda6. Not that it's unattractive... it's just not special.
Anyway... get something unique and personal.

I pretty much agree with this but for me right now I just prioritize having the manual over many other options a car can have. The year in between my coupe and my sedan I had an auto - and while I loved a lot of the other creature comforts the car had, i just wasn't having fun without the manual. this was just an altima - so nothing special at all.
I travel a lot for work and rent cars pretty often - sometimes I get upgraded. The auto in a BMW 3 series was incredible in sport mode, rev matched and everything...i personally just dont get as much enjoyment out of it as I do stick.
I think the G sedan is pretty much the perfect car for me.
[A]I need a sedan because 1 kid + 1 on the way
[B]Japanese reliability since I plan to keep it long term.
[C]Since i plan to keep it long term, I can mod it.
[D]You can find one in 6MT!!
Sure there are a few other sedans you can find in 6MT
at the time
Accord - pretty bare bone - no nav/leather
BMW - can't satisfy B/C
Audi - can't satisfy B/C
Suburu WRX- I'm 32 not 23
Maybe there are some others I missed, but you get the point
Yes I had to pay carmax 500 to ship one across the country for me...but worth it.
I'm going to enjoy the heck out of my G until it dies. It's quite possible that when that happens manual will be completely phased out. So I am going to enjoy it while I still can.

I did the management training program at Enterprise so I had the luck and unlucky sometimes to drive everything from Hyundai Accents to Jaguar Xfs, Range Rovers, the Benz CLA, C, E, and S classes, Camaros, Mustangs, 328s, A3s, 535s etc list goes on. There are few autos that give you full control though and if you dont have that it isnt enjoyable in my opinion.

I do agree with branching out which is why I am considering other brands, however Infinitis are an amazing bang for the buck compared to most other sport sedans and are generally low maintenance and cheaper service costs.
My thought process is A) Keep my car till a hair over 100k miles (@87k as of today) and trade for a newer Infiniti and swap many parts over that I can and get a newer car sooner, or B) save up longer to find a different brand and mod my car out more and keep it to roughly 130k miles and then get something a bigger upgrade as in AMG, M, ISF, S4 etc or maybe even GTR depending on the market as some can be had under 50k these days already.
Drove a 1700 mile Q50 AWD today as a loaner while getting serviced and am going to do a writeup later when I have more time.

Unfortunately the "fun" era for you will soon end and there will little to no cars left with the 3rd pedal. Although if Infiniti were to offer a double-clutch of some sort, that would still be an upgrade.
yup agree with this - that's why i'm driving this car to the ground.
I would switch that to a hair under 100K. Cars' values drop off a cliff when you hit 100K. When we sold our Forester XT to Car Max (a 2004 in 2013), the very first words out of the Car Max guy's mouth was asking us if it had less than 100K.
Very true, I'm going to try if I decide to go that route as long as my finances are ready by then. Seems like every 25k increments make some difference and every 50k makes a large difference in selling price.
For anyone interested in both a Q50 and G here is my review of a non sport Q50 compared to my 07 G35S and at the end of the day I would take the G. Now I have to test the Q50S and Red SPORT models before I decide but the Q itself was not a big enough upgrade to warrant losing the fun factor of the G for the newness of the Q.

^ yeah, i'd say a better comparo is with the newer 3.0T versus the old G37 platform. the '14-'15 Q50 is essentially just a G37 anyhow. the new '16 drivetrain should be a better test of evolution through the years. the only benefit to the previous Q50 is updated body and Tech stuff, which does matter to some people for sure.
having driven both the 3.0T 300hp and RS400 '16 sedans they are an interesting proposition and i'd have to say better overall cars and more refined compared with the Q50 3.7, which means they are also better than the G37. however, no manual if that is a deal breaker. but if i was near that CA dealer selling new RS400s for $40k i'd probably make the switch.

Hate when my phone changes things like sport to all caps lol I need to drive one soon but in omaha I doubt Id see those here till august. Might have to get a G37S stick for a couple years then switch to a slightly used Red Sport.
