G37X occasional fail starts

My 2013 G37X with 53460 miles has been occasionally doing this in the past few days, after not being driven as usual for 2 months (38 miles total, usually it's 1000 or more miles per month). It started doing this after getting an oil change, I got a brand new battery after i was told that the previous battery was bad during a battery test, i have a new red top optima battery at the moment. First time this happened took 3 or 4 tries before i could get the engine started. (the engine is always warm when this happens) Has this happened to anyone before?

P.S. I've been to the dealership twice already, the first time they did a diagnose and found no codes, The second time which happens to be today, they kept the car to try and re create the bad/weak starts.

All the research I've done so far bring up Throttle body, Fuel issue, camshaft going bad or spark plugs, but thing is the dealer didn't find any codes. I also replaced the key fob batteries 4 months ago. Below is a videos of the fail and abnormal starts. Sorry for the long post.

Definitely the throttle bodies. I was having the same issues. Replaced battery (needed to be replaced anyway... was going on 5 years), and that wasn't the solution. After cleaning the throttle bodies, it went away. Also, check your intake filters too.

mine has done this, start and died, about two times, neither one matched with any similar driving parking etc they were just random situations that just happened. ever since, about 2 months ago, no issues and no other problems, but I am at 72.5k. sorry I cant give you any insight, but definitely interested in what is determined as the cause, good luck.

I've experienced the same thing. I'd start it up, and the idle would go to about 1100, then drop down slowly and shut off. This would only occur after driving it for a little. The best way to explain it is when heading to the grocery store, I'd start up and leave home, get to the store, do my shopping, and when I return to my car to start her up, this would happen. However, if I give her a little gas upon startup, it would stay running like normal. Occasionally, the idle would dip a little while at a red light, but not to the point of stalling.

I cleaned the throttle bodies, but the problem was still there. However, after resetting idle (Idle Learn) while EcuTek tuning, the problem went away for good. I no longer have this issue.

Mine does this same thing occasionally even after I cleaned throttle bodies.

Called the dealership and apparently the car has been on it'so best behavior. I'm gonna go ahead and do what you did, hopefully that fixes it.

Hope you didn't pay both times, I called the dealer and told them to clean mine, they also said the Idle relearn is part of the process.

Paid for first one, they did the second one for free when my car was getting its driveshaft replaced under warranty. It was around 150-175$ I think for the cleaning

Mine did this around 54k miles. Cleaned the throttle bodies, no problems since then, at 72k now.

Wow, mine did this twice now. Took it to the dealer and they blamed after market air filters. I was pretty pissed because I bought it off lease from them! I've since changed the battery as it full out didn't start a couple times after sitting with the lights on but car off for 5-20 minutes. it hasn't happened since the battery change but a couple times it's been close. sometimes at a light i can feel the idle drop a bit as well and recover.

what bugs me the most after reading this thread is that many people have had this similar issue and the dealer didn't right away think "throttle bodies!".

I'm at 90k km so roughly 55k miles.

I thought it could've been battery after the first TB cleaning failed. It fixed it for 4 days max. Then it started happening again. It's 98% throttle bodies , 2% who knows

This was an issue for me too. I don't remember what my mileage was when it 1st happen. Dealership couldn't find and issues or codes. Of course it never occured there. I didn't mess with the throttle body or intake.
After my own investigation, I believe using bad gas was the issue. I only use Mobile and no issues as i will be climbing over the 100k mi. soon.
