Today I removed the titanium shift **** and installed the one made out of copolymer. Winter is coming.
Also, I replaced this little plastic bracket under the battery trim, the one ILM-NC G37S found for me.
I can’t figure out where that piece is located. Under the tray itself? How did your tray look? Any rust? Mine was rusted on one side more than I expected, so I wire brushed and painted flat black, also included the plastic bottom portion. Also cleaned up everything in that area that I cannot reach when the battery is installed.

Front and center underneath the battery panel trim. The bracket provides a secured hole for one of 5 push-clips that support that trim. Without it, the corner was floppy. That's all it was.
The shelf that the battery sits on looked dirty, but not rusty. I didn't clean it up, maybe I should have. Derp.
Drove the car today, literally grocery getting, LOL. This might be the last time the car gets driven with the Vossens and the summer tires. I'm going to swap them out next week.

This floppy corner? I think mine has always been that way. A clip belongs there. Interesting. May have broken off when the shop installed my amp years ago. Looks like I need to secure that rubber pass through fastener as well. Since Infiniti changed my first three batteries under warranty, I'm guessing that one of them had leakage on the positive side and corroded the paint, allowing rust to form. That's why we like working on our own cars now right? I enjoy cleaning up and fixing the small things around the item that I am repairing or replacing. That doesn't happen at the dealer.

Starting to contemplate powder coating my brakes pretty hard, might be my next big(ish) project. That or finally going for a long tube intake (just bummed that none have a design that eloquently navigates the core support, because I really don’t want to dremel it).
My latest mod was removing the side marker bulbs in my headlights, since one burnt out.
Those side marker bulbs probably have such a slight impact on visibility that I’m not in a rush to replace them. And the headlight assembly looks nice and clean without them (also have single-filament bulbs for the turn signals).
I kinda find the JDM side markers (front fender mounted) pretty appealing…
I also have single filament lights for the turn signals! How is that grill in the sun, pretty see through?
My vote goes for the intakes. I think Z1 makes a kit that does not require the support to be modified. The modification is pretty easy though, I even lined the holes with edge trim (you can see the trim on the cut plastic in the back).

The grill pictured is the newish aftermarket one that sells for around $100 on ebay (I painted the inner mesh matte black and added the QX emblem). The fitment is excellent. The mesh is pretty see-thru head on, but because it’s got some depth to it, it’s less see-thru at any other angle.
This grill is temporary until I get my custom one repainted (pic here):
^this mesh also has a deepness to it, but is also a tighter design that matches the lower grill better. Will get it back on the car by springtime
Thanks for the heads up on the Z1 intake, I think it’s between that one and the Takeda aFe one (that single filter design is pretty neat).

Your thread is a major inspiration, although you are most certainly overestimating my ability.
I had the fortune of driving an R34 GTR pretty recently, black one (GV1) that was nearly bone stock. The black paint with OEM gunmetal wheels and gold calipers just spoke to me.

Think about it more like your grille project. The only real hands-on need is for you to rebuild the calipers on a donor set, which you can totally take your sweet time doing. Everything else, from the powder coating to the installation, is something you can pay professionals to do. Your part in all that is the research and decision-making.
I have faith in you. Not overestimating anything.
And yes, gold Akebono calipers would look so-o-o good on your black sedan.
Do you have a pic of this installed? I cannot seem to figure out where it goes per my post above. I definitely have "floppyness", but it has been that way for so long I can't remember when it happened. Maybe when I had an amp installed?

All great points, appreciate how well you documented everything for the community
Here’s what I saw (not my photo) that won me over with the color combo (I’m a sucker for a good homage as well)
Gold with enough orange to give is a copper/bronze look. I'm not a huge fan of the Akebono font, so I think that the Infiniti font would look better. If I stay with blue, I will stick with Infiniti.
He's the one I spoke to in NC that rebuilds the caliper and sells you everything painted for $1200. However, it seems he is overworked and doesn't want to take on more business.
I don't like the red decals against gold. Black seems more appropriate, GTR notwithstanding.
And that heavy pearl gold... very nice.
Red lettering wouldn't be my first choice either, but it completes the Skyline R3x nostalgic look. I've also seen a set where Nissan is in black and Brembo is a much smaller font size in red. I’m feeling this color again:

You don't have to lift up the cowling against the windshield, that's not where it goes.
Take off the battery area lid. Then remove the 5 push-clips that hold the area together and lift the plastic trim out of the way. If you're facing the battery from the front of the car, this bracket goes at about 4:00. There are two holes one over the other on the curvy sheet metal, that's where this bracket clips into place. There another one on the brake side, if you're looking for an example and that one is still there. With the bracket in place, one of those five push clips has a place to go, and gives just enough structural integrity so the whole thing stays in place without flopping around.
