There's a noticeable panel gap in that picture, so maybe the entire trunk lid is aftermarket?

Those wheels, rotors and calipers... that's a great look.

Spruced up the interior of the 10 with a new console arm rest. It’s used, so of course it’s not perfect, but can’t expect perfection for 25 bucks. At least it’s hell of a lot better than the previous.

I fixed a rattle I've been putting up with (procrastinating about) for years.
I thought it was coming from under the rear deck. Removed the trunk liner to inspect the woofer, amplifier etc. Nothing found.
Went into the car to check the woofer grill, and as I was doing that, I pulled on one seat back to position myself. It moved! One of the hooks at the top wasn't hooked. I had to remove the seat back in order to lift it up over the hook, so it couldn't have just slipped off. It probably came that way from the factory.

No more rattle! Amazing how such a small thing can make such a big difference.

Bonus: found a quarter, a dime, and a nickel under the seat bottom, so I got paid for my efforts!
(Not that you can buy anything for 40 cents these days. In my university days, 40 cents got you 2 glasses of beer. Seriously! )

Rear coilovers on!

Installed the rear coilovers, and set up an alignment appointment for next week. Tomorrow I'll be dropping the rear diff for some necessary goodies as well as an eps aluminum driveshaft. Over the last month or 2, I've installed z1 headers, z1 motor mounts, gtr 570cc injectors, aem 340 fuel pump, and the specialty Z flex fuel kit. Just a few more things and this project is rounding off nicely. I'm just completely in love with this car. Also changed my shift **** & boot once more. It feels absolutely amazing with the alcantara.

How's the car with the z1 headers now? what exhaust do you have? Are you already tuned for ethanol?

it's pretty nice having the headers now. Links up to a fast intentions 2.5 inch setup. Resonated test pipes, 18inch resonators, duals. I'm running e85 and loving it. Finished the tune up a little before Christmas. I'm actually just tuned for flex though, so i can switch and put 93 in any time. The beauty of ecutek and the specialty Z flex kit.

Please post a review of the driveshaft when you get a chance!

I've done so much reading on the forum the last two years, I'll be happy to contribute back and do that. I should probably start a build thread as well.

Do you have long tubes(no cats), shorty headers with catted downpipes or catless downpipes? I have a 2.5" exhaust with 18" resonators as well and I absolutely love the sound. Headers and cats/downpipes are stock, and no tune (yet...)

the z1 headers are shorties. I have fast intentions 2.5 resonated test pipes which replaces the cats.

Deep Maintenance

A couple of weeks back, I replaced every fluid. Continuing along the deep maintenance theme, I replaced the serpentine belt, replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle bodies, cleaned the injectors, and replaced the leaking valve cover gaskets.

Serpentine belt: thought this would be a real PITA, but it only took about 45 minutes. One recommendation: tape a string to the socket wrench you use on the tensioner pulley. That way, when you drop it, you can just pull it back up.

Spark plugs: started on this two weeks ago and discovered that my deep 14mm socket wasn't deep enough. My deep impact socket was deep enough but way too fat to fit through the head. Bought a 14mm spark plug socket. Just right!

Cleaning the injectors: I rigged up a spray can after seeing a couple of DIY videos on youtube.

I don't think I actually accomplished any cleaning. Despite using a glass bottle to capture the spray, there was a lot escaping. I wasn't keen on that flammable vapour getting over to the battery I was using to trigger the injectors (lots of sparking). Seemed like a great recipe for an explosion. So I didn't spray each injector for long. Probably not long enough to clean anything, but long enough to confirm that the spray patterns were all fine.

Valve cover gaskets: thought this would be a PITA, and I was right. Especially the left side. On that side, there is more wiring getting in the way and two bolts at the back of the head that are very hard to access.

In this photo, the right side is done, and the left cover is off. Having learned a bit during the removal process, reinstalling the left wasn't too bad.

Tomorrow, as the rest of it goes back together, this will go in:
My first performance upgrade!

Well, technically not today but I got the old girl out to the beach on Saturday...

Yes, I know that more than half the parts I've collected and talked about here are NOT on the car. And the fog light holes are covered with gaffer tape. It's been a crappy year.

You're also taking sunny day photos on the shaded side of the car. Odd choice.

I drove mine today... that was my big to-do. Need to burn through a full tank in the next couple months before tuning, so that means coming up with excuses to drive it a few times a week. But with winter and Covid considerations, I literally have no where to go. It's very frustrating.
