Left side large intake inlets that face the radiator and are open to water and air, right side is the silencer adapter and adapter hole.

Swiss Cheezin the 'ol air box haha! I remember doing this to my old AWD Eagle Talon. I ended up just cutting the whole can off leaving a ring to clamp the filter on with! Crazy quick like that. I may just try this!

I suppose it was only a matter of time before the GAB made its way into this forum.

Inevitability aside, it still makes me sad.

In the Sedan forum? You're killing me, man.

Car forums are the only things that get younger as they age.

Folks have been doing that for twenty years that I know of. It was a thing with the B13 and B14 Sentra crowd.

Yeah the ones I saw either cut off the entire front side of the airbox or used pvc pipes running down to the grille. I like tinkering too much to leave stuff alone and I always try to make the most from the least. Every car I've owned I've done intake mods to but 3 out of 4 have been custom diy intakes. If ours made significant performance difference I'd invest but at this point the vented box without silencers, k&n drop ins, and my mishimoto tubes will have to do.

The thing with airbox mods is... if what you did was better, wouldn't it have just come like that from the factory?

I did a GAB (lol) on my old car and i swear it lost top end power compared to just stock.

You possibly just lost power, but who really knows unless you were to have dynoed before and after i guess.
