Burning oil smell/leak?

I have a 2009 G37x sedan with roughly 150,000 miles. When I get on the gas and drive spiritedly there is a a buring oil smell. It does not happen every time I drive it and there are no lights or loss of performance. If you pop the hood there is oil on the drivers side that looks like it is seeping out of somewhere. Possibly the valve cover gasket? I am unsure. I check my oil level periodically and it harly moves down at all by the time it is due for an oil change. Also there is no leaks visible on the ground. Anyone have an idea what it could be?

If the valve cover gasket has a leak, it can leak oil on to the exhaust manifold and you smell burning oil.

You could shampoo the engine to remove the oil and see how how bad the oil leak is.

Yes that is what I was thinking. I'll have to wait until it gets nice out for me to clean the engine.
