Ash(*A$$)tray removal!!!

Hey guys, i'm in the process of vinyl wrapping my interior and so far going ok, but got to the ashtray center section and cant seem to take the top piece off for the ashtray. i have the tray out, just cant separate the 'lid' from the main assembly. i read posts and saw one w/pics but the pics would not load so I am asking anyone who has done this, how do you get the 'lid' to come off? i removed the two side screws but nothing happened, just bobbled around but it wouldn't let me pull it through. so didn't want to screw up the mechanism and put the screws back in. i see the 3 screws in the bottom of lid, but i cant get to them any help/pics would be appreciated:bo wdown: TIA

I wrapped my ashtray but I didn't even attempt to take that lid off, it's a pita but definitely doable without taking the cover off.
Heating and stretching the vinyl before installing it on curved edges will help it conform better. After applying the stretched vinyl, heating it will shrink it back and the stress from stretching it won't be on the edges.

Hope this helps a bit even though I didn't really answer your question

Tore down my interior last weekend. Haven't wrapped yet. But, I'm planning on wrapping mine intact. I believe your tray is different than mine. Nevertheless both can be done without removing.

Thanks Bocian and Kimmspeed... I ended up wrapping the pieces, but did not remove the tray either. It looks fine when closed, but when I open the tray, the edges are rough etc... So will try again now that I see your pic Bocian , that looks good, so will try some heat on this go round since I won't be taking it off and have sufficient vinyl for a few more tries , maybe I'll get it right before I run out...
