Thumbs down OBD port locked

guys,
i wanetd to read codes\PID via OBD2 port.
i have got BT dongle (ELM327) and Torque app on andorid.
i was able to pair the phone with the BT dongle.

i couldnt get any real time values\PID
the app says ( the vehicle ECU has not been enabled by your dealer for OBD2 access)
anyone knows anything about this matter?

What country do you live in? You G might either not OBD 2 compliant meaning still using an OB 1 connection or the ECU wasn't enabled to be so probably because of the country it is in or originally in if you transported it from somewhere. Or you can try these steps below:
-Go into your "Vehicle Profile"
-Scroll down to "Use alternate Obd header" and check the box.
-Save your changes and then close and reopen torque.

Obd

Hi grant and thanks for replying
I live in dubai and the vehicle follows gulf specifications.
I dnt think it uses obd1 co i found many videos to the similar G getting connected via obd2.

I tried the option u mentioned but no hope

I am pretty sure the dealer locked the port so they are the only ones who can control the ecu.

So any idea how to unlock it ?

Hmm I've never had in experience doing so, but if it was me I would just go to the dealer or tuner to see if they can do and if the cost is to rich for you. A simple google search will probably show you how to unlock the ECU OR the port. Or maybe someone else will chime in here.

this may give you a little more insight of the issue. But it seems like from what I researched you have to go to a dealer or a tuner. But I'm in to wait and see as well what someone on the forum says also lol.

the obd2 data link connector port is a universal diagnostic plug outlet required of all manufacturers if they sale vehicles here in the united states. now the issue the op may be having is a software issue which the manufacturer may or may not allow certain vehicles to have access to when they are sold to different countries around the world. torq app on the android market is a generic obd2 software app, the op may need oem factory specific scantool with the correct software for his region in order to access the data supplied by the pcm.

Doubtful the OP still checks this board, he hasn't posted in three-and-a-half years.
