Found the purchase agreement which shows the $11,300 discount along with the $898 accessory pack for $300 (Tint, Wheel Locks, and 3m Door guards). The rate that was negotiated was lower than what was shown on the purchase agreement. They always have room in every part of the transaction.

Hopefully this will help someone out with their negotiations. I can see there is 88 Q40 left in stock in the nation ranging from $31k (discounted) to $41k (MSRP). Most dealers are showing $5k - $8k in discounts but you could have them offer as much as $12k in discounts. I was able to negotiate $11,300 off the purchase price and $600 off the accessory pack for a total of $11.9K in savings. Also they threw in one extra tank of gas and one year maintenance plan (3 oil changes and 1 tire rotation).

Also took some pictures during vehicle delivery and put some miles on it over the weekend. Love the changes from the Rev-Up motor to the VHR motor.

Edit: To get the best deal you would need VPP and finance through Infiniti for the dealer to get max rebates/casback. You can refinance in 6 months and dealership does not care but before 6 months it will cause a charge-back from Infiniti and the dealer get's pissy when they loose money...lol

Where's the line on the purchase agreement where they pay *you* advertising costs for having their name splattered across the trunk?

HAHAHAHA . My brother brought that up during negotiations and the guy felt real bad. The employees who normally remove the stickers were gone home for the day. When I go back to pick up my tags and get my 2nd tank of gas, they will remove the stickers. I have to live with it for a week and then park it in the garage for couple weeks while on vacation. Once I am back I can take it to the dealer and have it removed

@faiz23 We have one dealer around here (a chevy) that used to rivet their dealer badge to new cars/trucks. If it's just a decal it'll come right off with a little heat. Just make sure to inspect it afterwards for no paint damage.

Some dealers think customers won't notice this. When I picked up mine, they didn't even have their license plate frame installed. Picked up a nice one from the deal's gap gift shop.

This is a steal. 28-29 K for a brand new loaded g37, seems g37's are amazing deals used or new.

Buying a camry, altima etc is meaningless when there are such great deals on g37s.

I have a 2004 6speed g35 sedan just like the one you had...What made you get off the stick? Any reason you didn't go for a 2010-2013 g37 with low miles for less than 20k (because they look identical) and maybe give you the options for 6speed and lower payments?

I can't let my g35 6speed sedan go just yet because I haven't made up my mind on the new car, but leaning toward 2010-2013 g37 6mt (unless the Q50 miraculously gets a 6mt)

I originally bought my 6mt G when I lived close to work and didn't work during rush hours. After a couple promotions my job moved closer to downtown and the daily Dallas commute with a stick was getting annoying. I enjoyed the car on the weekends and cruising around town when there was no traffic. I wanted to keep it for a third vehicle but it did not make sense in my current situation nor did I want to pay for a third vehicle.

I was originally looking at 2012 - 2013 G37/G37S and found 5 vehicles that met my criteria. I looked at 3 out of 5 and all three were beat up. The other problem was most only had 1 yr warranty left and certified model which came with extra warranty was beat up too. I found a 2012 G37 certified with 25k miles for $20,921 and should have checked it out. I was sure that was the vehicle I was going with since it was a safe bet but the carpets looked nasty in the pictures. I was worried the previous owners did not care for it and it was sitting on the lot for 2 months. Dealer said it was not getting much activity and they lowered it again. It sold a week later and was probably a decent vehicle after you negotiate and have the dealer refurbish it a little. Most of the vehicles I saw were lease returns and I didn't care for their conditions.

I had the opportunity to pay a little bit more and get a brand new vehicle with full warranty. I had a choice between 9 vehicles and got to choose my own miles, package and color. I plan to use this car for 2 - 3 years and then wifey will drive it for 5 - 6 years. I don't mind paying a little bit more and owning the vehicle from 17 miles instead of 34,150 miles. I gave up Akebono Calipers (hopefully decent used pads/rotors), Worn Sport seats, Sport suspension, paddle shifter, and other addons for newer, full warranty, peace of mind and resale. Most of the vehicles had ~36K miles and would have needed service, tires and brakes soon. I didn't want to spend money on maintenance after just buying a car for $22k - $28k. I can further extended the warranty through Scottsdale Infiniti for a much better price compared to local dealers.

If I could do it again I would still make the exact same decision and glad I made the move that I did when the opportunity presented itself. I love the new car smell and being able to bed in the brakes from day 1.

Edit: Another issue with the G was it was needing more attention due to the age and mileage. I was on stock clutch at 130k with no slipping but did not feel like paying to drop the tranny in the future and replace the clutch/flywheel. I need rear diff bushing along with lower control arm bushing and knuckle ball joints. The 6mt G37 stock internal slave has too many issues for me to spend that sort of money when my number one requirement is reliability. I don't want to have to tinker with it and just want drive it to work and back. Give it to wifey in a couple years and make sure I don't have to work on it during the weekends. Just basic maintenance and call it a day. Plus wifey can't drive a stick =p

I plan to let the dealer handle it when I go back to get my plates. If they mess up the paint they can fix it on their dime. Plus I need to get my free tank of gas while I am there.

I gotchu seems like you more of a family man now and moving to something more practical. I am in the same situation I have 210k on my original clutch unless previous owner changed it before 75k...I don't have to put too much $ into my car right now, def less much than 300 a month a new car would be (usually 0 a month). I feel like I will have to drop 6speed which I dont really want to do for my next car.

You hit the nail on the head ...family man

The clutch on the G can go a long ways if it was driven properly. I have heard of many instances where the OEM sedan clutch go beyond 150k miles as long as it was used as a daily and not any sort of track or amateur abuse.

I still have my Q40 and soon my wife will be driving it. I have a pre-order in place for Rivian R1S as a worthy replacement.

I have 79,500 miles on the Q40 and it drives like brand new.

Ester oil from day 1 and every oil change since then.

I took delivery of my Rivian R1S that has been on order for couple years. I got it towards the start of summer and made a last minute decision to grab the exact opposite color configuration compared to my Infiniti.

My Q40 is Moonlight White Pearl with Graphite seats. The Rivian I picked up is Midnight black exterior on Ocean Coast interior.

I still have the Infiniti in my stable but it's currently being driven by my wife.

Rivian puts a smile on my face just like when I first got my red headed step child Rev-Up 2005 G35 6mt Sedan.

Now I can finally say I have a 6 Piston - Brembo BBK. I've been trying to buy a BBK since I first got my G back in 2011.

Congrats on the new ride (and big brakes). Have you installed a home charging station yet? Curious what size you put in (amps or kilowatts).

Any other thoughts to share about transition to an EV? Did incentives work out as you expected? Is the public charging network reliable in your area? Do you plan to enroll in a time-of-use rate with your utility? Would you ever let the utility control your charging station if they paid you to do so? Seems like there’s no shortage of considerations when making the decision to electrify (but I’m also a textbook overthinker).

And props for documenting your ownership journey so well in this thread. The first few posts reminded me about my own experience. Bought in April 2013 and still have it. Unlike you, my commute grew smaller and smaller, to the point I decided to store my car outside of the city (mainly used for weekend trips now). But it’s still going strong like yours (I say this because I just fixed the sunroof drain leak, which was eating away at me). My odo clocks around 48k miles, so if I somehow resist temptation to upgrade to a newer car, maybe I’ll get another 10 years out of my G. We shall see

Thanks for the post and comments. I installed the Rivian home charger a few days before I took delivery since I got it at the pre-order price of $500. 85% - 90% of my charging is done at home. This BEAST has the large battery pack which clocks in at 135 kWh. I went with the maximum possible for Rivian R1S/R1T L2 charger which is 60 amp breaker running at 80% continuous load which results in 48 amps being safely pulled at all times / 11.6 kWh (22 miles - 25 miles per hour). Labor was $436.22 and my employer covered it all. The rest I will get 30% credit on my tax return for the EV charger.

The transition to EV for me was extremely easy due to availability of charger at home and at work. My employer offers free charging as a perk to come into the office but honestly I would rather just stay remote instead of trying to get $3 of electricity. I don't have to rely too much on public charging since 85%+ of my charging is done at home. The few times I have had to use public chargers, they worked without any major issues. Once or twice I had to move spots just like when you go to a gas station and they have a bag on the pump, you move over a spot or two. Not the end of the world. Just make sure you have the ability to charge every night in your garage. Just like my laptop or cellphone, most of the charging for those devices is done at home. I wake up every morning to a full tank of electrons ready to move me around town from 0-60 mph in 3 ish seconds.

My electricity cost is around 13 cent per kWh and doesn't matter what time of the day. I would consider solar if my electricity rates were near California rates. I don't have any sort of plans that I can pick but I would have no issues only charging at night when some people get extremely low rates or free electricity with certain plans. At the same time, I would pay extra to charge during the day if I needed to go somewhere. I don't count the dollar per kWh too much since the smiles per miles are through the roof with 835 horses under your foot pedal.

When I initially reserved the Rivian, my commute was much longer. Since then I have a fully remote job and my commute has dropped. I still went through with the purchase since I was eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit and received pre-order pricing which saved another $20,000. I have around 82,000 miles on the Infiniti and she is going strong. I still have it under the platinum Infiniti warranty for a few more months. My plan is to let my wife drive it for 3 - 5 years and then give it to my son to drive it another 3 - 5 years. I plan to take the Q40 to 150,000+ miles. You'll have no problem getting 10+ more years out of the G. I just couldn't resist the upgrade once the offer was made to me with all pricing and rebates intact. I've been looking for a worthy performance SUV as a replacement since 2018.

Thanks! Its really an amazing vehicle that has the ability to completely transform from a mall crawler to a legit off-roader and back to a SAV (sports activity vehicle) all by pushing a button.

I typically drive it in sport mode, low ride height and soft rebound. With my family, I will switch it up to standard ride height, soft rebound and all purpose mode.

I am really looking forward to a lot of this tech making its way into the Rivian R2 so it gets into the hands of more and more people.
