Sold my 6mt G35 Sedan for a Q

I was looking at a used 2012 - 2013 G37S and saw a post about $10k off Q40. I called my brother who had previously purchased a brand new 2013 from Grubbs Infiniti. He was able to start with a brand new Q40 that was MSRP at $39,795 and negotiate it down to $28,500 with 17 miles. They wanted $898 for accessories pack which is tint, wheel locks, and door 3m guard. We asked them to remove it or loose the sale. In the end we agreed to pay $300 for the accessory pack since it came with the vehicle. I was willing to pay $200 since all I cared about was a tint. No one is going to steal my factory 17" wheels and door handle guard is not something I have done on other vehicles.

I passed on all the extras in the finance office and talked them down in rate to what my local banks or credit unions would have offered me. I will probably get the extended warranty from Infiniti Scottsdale to save money compared to local dealer. I sold my old 2005 G35 6mt Sedan for $5k to my best friend and used that as down payment.

I have been very active on G35driver and somewhat active on my350z. I look forward to meeting some of the local DFW members and be a more active part of this community

Eventually over time I would like to do a good shock/spring setup, akebono calipers and maybe an exhaust. I had done a ton of work on the G35 sedan and for this vehicle I wanted to leave it stock for a minute. I got the vehicle mainly since I wanted a reliable car to get to work and back. I do not have time to tinker with the vehicle like I did when I bought my G35 4.5 years ago. This vehicle will be given to wifey in 2 -3 years and we will trade her vehicle for a SUV. I will be buying the Stillen license plate relocator as my first mod . I don't want to drill into a brand new car . Do you have any mods that you really think are worth it and you could not live without?

That's good I have the same color 37 sedan mine is stock pretty much but as far as aesthetics I have customized my headlights to gloss black housing with silver shrouds and added morimoto xsb halo switchbacks and a 3.0 Sti-R lense, got rid of the chrome on the grille and Windows trim, also I have debadged the back and kept the Infiniti emblem only make it look much cleaner, one thing I had to do is add swift springs to it since I had a lowered g37 coupe prior to the sedan, I love them nice mild drop, rides great, also in the future I will want full bolt ons (cai, catback exhaust, tune, high flow cats) but that will take me long due to having to save for it. Wheels some day when I save as well but I'm pretty happy with it stock for now, picked it up with 25k original miles for 2011 was pretty good this summer.

For now the only debadging I plan to do is remove the dealer stickers on the trunk.

Doesn't matter. Hotchkis, Stillen, Eibach, Motordyne, etc.

Pick one and go. Best, most cost-effective and least complicated upgrade you can possibly do.

Big change going to the darkside (AT) ?

18" Wheels with decent rubber will improve the handling.

Is this the car with steer by wire?

I don't think so. The Q40 is basically a G37. I'm pretty sure steer by wire was introduced with the Q50.

Darn! That is a great price for a Q40. I also have a 2015 Q40 AWD base (that is all I need) - Heated front seats, home link /compass rear view mirror, heated side mirror, backup camera.

You need to buy this :

No Holes License Plate Bracket

This is what I have for my Q40....

I have an AWD and that is the only emblem that I removed. I was supposed to remove the q40 emblem, but the q badge makes it feels or look newer than a G37 badge so I kept it...

My mods are....

* 3M matte black 1080 vinyl on the inside front grill. (I did this)
* 3M black 1080 vinyl front roof above front windshield. (1 foot from top windshield ) I installed it too.
* Xpel ultimate clear film - full front bumper/ full hood/ fenders, side mirrors.
* 17" "Gunmetal Weapon" rims (function than looks @ 17.5 Ibs each) - removed from my EX35 Infiniti .
* 235/55/17 Continental Purecontact all season ( @23.5 Ibs each)
* Thinkware X500 front/back camera dash cam both 1080P with parking mode hard wired.
* Sekendesign no drill front license plate holder.
* Cusco front tower brace removed from my EX35 Infiniti.
* Blendmount with 9500ix detector (1st batch 2011?)
* Autobahn blind spot mirror. (Driver side only)
* AFe pro dry S air filters removed from my EX35 Infiniti.
* ECUTEK - Etuned by Visconti.
* Currently for the 1st time on Pennzoil Ultra engine oil ( car is only @ 3,300 miles) Smoother than the original oil.

Future mod:

Only swift lowering spring for AWD sedan. That is all I need....

Got it, thanks. I have a friend of mine local who is a MOD on my350z and he does a ton of work locally for G35/350z/Titan members. I will have him swap out the sway bars for steaks and beers.

I will probably do wheels and Akebono brakes at the same time in the future. I went with auto since rush hour traffic 1 hour each way was not why I bought my 6mt. I wanted to keep it as a weekend toy and possibly swap an LS engine over a couple years. Wifey said to pick one or the other..... . This vehicle is just a rebadged G37 and should not be steer by wire.

I believe you are correct and it is hydraulic instead of drive by wire steering.. I still miss my old steering on 05 6mt which was much stiffer and felt connected

I am getting a bracket for sure but worried where to mount the double sided sticky tape. I don't want to attach it to paint and then have it peel the paint if I ever have to remove it or replace the tape. That's why I like the Stillen one but I don't like having it off to one side instead of centered. Do you have pics of yours and how you mounted it/which part of the bumper?

I got a Pearl 40 too. I'm really loving it.

No mods at all yet. I'm leasing but it's going to be hard to let it go.

Now that the 50's are going to turbo options only, it makes it harder to turn loose of the VQ.

The 50 looks sexy though.

28.5 for a 2015 Q40 with less than 20 miles is a great deal. A fully loaded accord or camry runs for that much or more.

I got my 2011 G37S fully loaded with 26k miles for $24k.

Did you ever think about trying to get a G37 Sport model before shopping for the Q40?

I like the looks of the 50 but not the price or steering. I have heard from others that they enjoyed driving the G37 from a performance/sporty standpoint over the Q50. I would love the twin turbo Q50 that will come with improved steering but my wallet can't afford that. Also I really don't like buying the first gen of any model/platform. I like the Q40 since it is the last version of the G37 and that platform has been around a long time. I wanted a fairly priced, luxury/sporty vehicle that was reliable and cheap to maintain.

Thanks!

I was originally looking at Camry or Altima to get a basic vehicle but could not pull the trigger due to being a boring vehicle. I actually put money down on a 2013 G37 Sport since that was mainly what I was looking for. It had 34k miles, no accidents, one owner but it was a store demo for 6k miles. I was able to negotiate that from $24,995 to $21,700. They had to do some touch up work and respray a bumper.

I did not feel comfortable buying that vehicle since it was like 8.5 / 10 in exterior condition. I looked at other sport models in 2012 - 2013 but even certified ones were not in good condition body/paint wise or interior wear and tear. I was running out of time and got an opportunity to buy a car for like you said Accord or Camry money and jumped on it. We keep our vehicles for 5 - 6 years and this one will hopefully be even longer since it is brand new.

The double sided tape goes under the bumper where you wont see it, then I use a provided screw that hold the bracket in place. All are not visible, bec. you need to be looking under the car to see it...
