Exhaust tip cover fell off - time for new tips

So I walked out to the car yesterday and thought one of the tips looked really dirty. Upon closer inspection, the stainless beauty coverS fell off leaving each tip looking very different.

Time for new tips. Anyone have pics of tips on stock exhaust and bumper?

For about 3 years, these were my tips, welded directly to the OEM cans:

I kept one of them as a bookend that I occasionally hide stuff in.

It fell off? Can you snap a pic? That thing looks like it would be difficult to remove.

It looks like the chrome portion is just a shield/cover for the extension that is welded onto the portion of the tailpipe which extends from the muffler. This doesn't look like one of the more common setups where the tip just slides over the tailpipe and attaches with a screw/tack weld. One would need to hacksaw that tip off and weld a new one on using a similar length of the same size pipe right?

Oh man, that's beautiful. I like that so much more than what I came up with years ago. If I had those tips instead, it might have influenced my mod schedule, and rearranged cat-back plans.

My advice to the OP on aftermarket tips: avoid single-wall designs. They disappear at a zero-degree perspective.

The outer SS is somewhat clamped together by virtue of the depressions designed into it, and then spot-welded in place. So my guess is the spot welds must have broken.

Those look really good CPJ. You had to hack the old one off to install these correct?

I absolutely love the pic with the massive pile of exhaust carnage in the background!

thank you! yes, my exhaust guy just used the typical Milwaukee sawzall - got thru it like butter...

LOL...if you notice in the pile, he just got done removing old cats from a g35...busy shop.

So, 1st, some great looking tips posted up. 2nd, I don't have a picture of the back of the car, but one tip is just not shiney. Teh tip under the ring is the same shape. I do have a picture of my tip as last seen on the side of the highway.

I had a full road gator get kicked in front of my that I hit and knocked my front plastics lose. I pulled over to check the damage (surprisingly little) and took a picture of the gator that got me. If you look on the left of the picture on the shoulder, you can see the tip standing on edge. Wish I would have noticed it while I was there and not in the picture later.
